Sarah and Geok Leng dropped by house at about 3.30pm; received a short and abrupt phone call beforehand from GL that went something like, “Hey you’re at home now? Oh okay good coming to your house now kla byeee.”
They came to my house shortly after that, with Sarah driving the Wira or sommat. They wished me “Happy Birthday” despite it being the wrong day and I didn’t have the heart to tell them so, and they gave me this small little package with what felt like a ring or a earring in it. Apparently they came all the way from Taylor’s after their classes were over.. so yeah, terharu haha.
I took the little package out after they went back. It’s a earring. I thought how the heck was I supposed to wear it when I hadn’t pierce, but after several minutes of tinkering around with it (two white fake diamond-like thingies on either end), realised it’s a magnetic earring. Both Sarah and Geok Leng are bloody hip and fashionable.
About 8.30pm, we went off to Old Town Kopitiam (me, Daniel, Andy, Wai Hong, together with Jon who felt bored at home) to collect our pay (also wore the earring for the heck of itsince it would be a complete waste to leave it lying around in the house when someone had already bought it, which illicited funny responses from the rest, lol). Bloody supervisor wasn’t there. Again. Went back to Wai Hong’s house to hang around for a while, until we left at about 11pm.
After fetching Jon back, went to Court 10 for a while till almost 1am, then being the fashionably clueless us, stopped by at the roadside near the school to think of where to go next, then headed off to USJ 1 for one of the mamaks there.
There, we sat. The three of us. And talked. So many things. About the past… our past.. with the moon, round as ever, shining at us, reminding us about our sordid single life. Considering it was past 12am and it was already Valentine’s day, the three of us celebrate the occasion by talking about things that have long passed. Whom we’ve liked. Crushes. Teachers. Friends. Studies. The future. It was seriously nice.
All right up to 3.40am.. fetched the rest back and reached home at 4am plus.

After Wai Hong’s dad phoned the new supervisor Johnson, we went to Old Town Kopitiam again at 2pm by Wai Hong’s mum’s car (save for Andy) and picked up my pay. I got RM494.40 while Wai Hong had RM127.25. Can’t remember the rest.
Stayed at McDonald’s for a while till 4pm plus while waiting for Esther and Jess’ break, then Andy went back while the rest of us (including Kai Tzin) headed for Shawn’s house to collect Daniel’s mahjong set. It started to rain heavily on the way, so we ran like mad dogs while the dad greeted us at the door, looking almost amused at us huffing and puffing away like big bad wolves.
It stopped raining almost as sudden as it came. Walked to my house, and then Dan, WH and I played mahjong while Kai used the PC.
At almost 9pm, we went off to pick up Andy at Pyramid, then picked up Wai Hong. Dropped by at Petronas and 7-Eleven for a re-fuel of food and drinks, picked up Kai Shen, then off we went to Purple Hills on the pretext of counting down towards my birthday. lol.
On the way to Putra Heights/Purple Hills, there was a police checkpoint and we went slightly worried as we were afraid we would be stopped for being ‘overloaded’. After a brief check, nothing went wrong. We stopped by at the foot of the hill, and took our food and drinks while looking at the nightview of the scenery beyond.

Some of you might find it completely lame, but heck, it’s something you won’t do normally.

Andy pretending to be caught by paparazzi.
After a while, when Andy was inside my car ready to reverse, two policemen on the motorcycle ran past by towards my car. I ran back towards my car, fearing that we’ll kena saman since Andy was without a license but it turned out that the kind policemen were merely suggesting us to move our car somewhere since we were obstructing part of the road (which was wide anyway). So we complied.
Changed place, this time the view overlooking somewhere else. And played with my sucky cam which worked suckily in night-like conditions.

Sigh, it looks nice but it’s too horribly dark.

Acting mysterious and creepy-like.

Kai Tzin walking towards the distance..
We hung around at the roadside, played with my camera, chatted about, relaxed, listening to the music from my CD blasted at maximum volume, waited till midnight strikes, and “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” without all the capitalised effects, and went back at a little past midnight. Online-d till 3am.
Parents finding it a problem of my nightly outings because I found a need to unwind and enjoy was nonetheless one of the sources of my disagreeable unhappiness. And the fact that plans on what to do on my birthday went completely awry, from the magnificent cold Genting, to bak kut yeh at Klang.
Not blaming anyone, ‘course. But my own.

Woke up at about 11.30am when Shawn phoned me. He was considerably upset the previous night (can hear from his voice when he wished me) due to him unable to go to China despite planning since months ago (“GOD said so lar” was his words when he told me about it on MSN at about 2am). Sigh.
After thinking it out whether to watch movies or teman Shawn to KL to buy his PSP (as a consolation for the inability to go to China), in the end I chose the latter.
Yen fetched Shawn, Andy and I to KL as both of them were on leave (Shawn was on leave cause he was too pissed/upset). Found a parking at a 5-minute walking distance from Sungei Wang (and paid RM5 too), then walked inside and began exploring.
After much asking around (not much, really), and long story short, Shawn finally purchased his black PSP + 1GB memory card + downgraded to version 1.5 to play pirated games for RM1150, excluding the Pro Evolution Soccer game one of the sellers (a Cantonese-speaking Indian called Stanley) downloaded for him (at RM10, heh).
Oh, ate at McD’s for lunch, and when one of the Malay staff member came by our table to promote their Kids Club card thingy (for only RM3, no less, and useable for a single year to get free small french fries or ice-cream - the same card we used yesterday on Valentine’s when we borrowed it off from the table next to us whom Andy knew). I bought it lor since it’s cheap and obviously worth it in the long run considering how often I go to McD’s.
Geok Leng phoned me again while I’m still in Sungei Wang, and apparently they were right in front of my house, wanting to wish me “Happy Birthday” again, lol. Kind souls.
Went back at about 4.30pm, and halfway walking towards Yen’s Myvi, it started to show signs of raining. The first few drops fell.
Got in the car, and BOOM! Huge drops started flying everywhere, and KL began to turn into a hell of a rainstorm. Heavy traffic jam. Trees beating themselves. As if the heavy gods from above masturbated everywhere.
Not a pretty sight when you see a huge section of (mostly) lanes on the left side flooded with mud and assorted liquid. The rain was seriously heavy, right up till when we reached Subang. Freaking heavy.
Picked up Kai Tzin at Summit’s bus stop (he was completely wet) at about 5.30pm, then tapau-ed some stuffs for Shawn’s family at Tien Tien Fatt, then back at Shawn’s house. Played mahjong! Kai Tzin and Andy watched some DVDs.
Initially had to choose between watching movies at Summit or staying at Shawn’s house to play mahjong (the double M, as Yen called it) - decided on mahjong in the end.
Daniel couldn’t join us as he had some probs with his mum as well. As did I. The moment I woke up today and went downstairs to try and grab some lunch, I was subjected to a torrent of flurry words by my mum that were probably not needed - something I’m not keen on listening to on my birthday, the eighteenth no less.
Played mahjong till 7.30pm, helped Shawn with his PSP-related matters by using his PC, then off we went for dinner as SS15 at about 8.30pm. It was a small restaurant called Canadian Pizza 2 for 1. The offer as suggested by its name was only applicable to takeaways, but we dined there anyway.
Treated Shawn, Andy, Kai Tzin and Jon the dinner. A low-key dinner, but when my car is off limits and I had to rely on Shawn’s transport, that’s as good as it gets. :)
Went to WarnetX (Games World was full) cafe, freaking PCs sucked. The availability of games were miniscule. My mouse was broken (had to change PC in the end). Although the reclining (leather?) chairs are something. We played Command & Conquer Generals followed by CS: Condition Zero 1.2. Hehe, ‘twas a bit of fun.
Reached home at 11.45pm.
Overall it was completely not what I expected (obviously). What an 18th celebration, especially with the rain pouring down like someone’s fart as if signifying things to come.
Thanks to those who wished me through a myriad of ways, from being with me yesterday night at Purple Hills (Daniel, Andy, Kai Tzin, Kai Shen, Wai Hong), to phone call (Shawn, Geok Leng, Sarah), to SMS (Angela, Shawn again, Suet Li, Eugene, mum, Jon, Chee Hee, Jess - I’m checking this chronologically via my handphone >_>), to MSN (Julia, Soon Guan), to Friendster (Farah, Cheng Kim, Ting), and to a comment left on this very blog by Daniel which I found completely amusing and hilariously touching. Thanks! :D
From a private board I visit that goes by the name of KGB, in GameFAQs, here’s a rather profound conversation I found very enlightening on eighteenth birthdays:

I feel anything but adult.
From: lisanne | Posted: 2/11/2006 12:33:37 AM
That’s it exactly. “Adult” means “tax”. Any other meaning is pretense – none of us are actually “adults” by the childhood perception of the world and anyone who claims to know it all and be uber-responsible is probably a liar.
Wisdom isn’t about knowledge. It’s about the realisation that even if we study for a lifetime, we still know nothing. There’s too much in the world that can be learnt and too many things that will be discovered in our lifetimes for any of us to accrue any real knowledge. Wisdom comes when you make the transition from child to “adult”, and realise that it’s nothing but a badge. None of us are adults – we’re all children in this world and that will never change.
Sounds like you’ve already made that jump. You won’t feel anything different on your 18th birthday – you’ll just find yourself a wee bit poorer, courtesy of tax :)

Hehe, that’s a good way to put it, and might be something I’ll quote in my blog when that 18th birthday comes. :)
Come to think of it, after all the various crazy/lame stuffs we did during our trip to KL today, we still have our happy childish inhibitions within us. Hard to act what society demands of us (or “young adults”) when all you want to do is to do what your heart desires.
If the only thing that greets you when you make the transition to be an “adult” is tax, that’s really tragical. :p
I remember when I was about 4 or so, I’d face the mirror a day before my birthday, minutes before the clock strike at midnight -- just to see if I’ll grow magically taller, or look any older instantly.
That was such a naive idea, heh.
From: lisanne | Posted: 2/11/2006 2:14:57 AM
For me, it was the right to vote that made me look forward to my 18th birthday, especially since there was a general election just beforehand in which I couldn’t vote but desperately wanted to, but considering that I was unusually political that might not be so surprising :)
It’s quite sad really. When you’re a child, you desperately can’t wait to grow older, but when you’re an adult, you wonder where all the years went and start wishing you were younger. Age becomes insignificant to an extent – it’s just another year. As my mum said after her birthday, “I can’t be 52, I still feel 20!”.
So yeah, I’m finally 18. Since I am legally an adult and can legally smoke, drink and have sex, I guess the first thing I would be doing is.
Go to Maybank and open an account and get an ATM card. Oh wait, I’ve drank enough before I’m 18 as well, anyway.
We’re all children in this world, at heart.

Oooh one day hehe. I know my parents, and most of the “un-hip” adults would freak out if I start wearing one in front of them. >_>
