Banana peeling

I would like to take the time to say how I am now struggling to read a 3-page long Chinese essay (with large fonts too, admittedly) by referring to my Chinese dictionary software repeatedly and constantly flipping to the back pages to check out the 50+ new vocabs (quite a ridiculous amount to ensure that we remember IMO, previous classes only have like 10-20 new vocabs tops). What would take you Chinese-proficient people to read the thing in like 5 minutes took me over an hour T___T

I recently jumped from my level 5 class straight to a level 8 class (where they were in their 2nd last chapter already wtf) because another classmate and I felt that the pace was too slow, thanks to the other aunties in the class who actually wanted the pace to be that slow. So here I am in my level 9 class, struggling with my own revision.. and I suppose in a way it paid off a bit when I actually understood the entire article on my own (by checking the dictionary occasionally..).

HAHAHA that emoticon cracked me up all the frigging time I see it. :)

HAHAHAHA matching ones!

But I digress.

Anyway with this new particular class, I no longer have to deal with heart-wrenching corny dialogues any longer from our textbook such as “大为,你又来了” wtf (roughly translated to “David, here you go again” wtf). After spending an hour digesting the words and the pronunciation of this particular textbook story I just read on my own (祝你情人节快乐, ‘Wishing You a Happy Valentine’s Day’, sounds like a morbid sad tale which it is wtf), and finally reaching the end, I thought the ending was bloody good (for a total beginner of the language like me), not to mention a little touching.

There is this spring of satisfaction inside me that well up whenever I can actually understand something in Chinese, whether spoken or not. Which brings me to another subject – I desperately need to brush up on my spoken Chinese, it feels as if my written Chinese is eons away compared to my spoken.

I await the day I can finally stop checking the bloody dictionary for every sentence I read.

Edit: After killing a mosquito and finally feel annoyed enough to be dealing with its rabid species EVERY OTHER NIGHT, I scourged high and low on the mighty vast seas of the Internet and found what I was looking for – an audio mosquito repellant file (originally titled PSMoz for the PSP wtf I kid you not, only 218kb :)). It emits ultra high pitch sound which mimics male mosquitoes’ sounds whereby the female blood-sucking counterparts supposedly hate, and thus far I think it’s working pretty well.

It also supposedly work best in indoor conditions, but I suppose you can try it outdoors. Said file is already in my handphone and ready to be used anytime I venture into mosquito-infested places. Skeptical as you may be, I will be having the last laugh. :)
