Project 365 #17: Monday, 2nd March 2009

We ate our lunch at SS15’s Darulsalam. Food served to us took a long time to arrive, and you’d think that the longer you wait, surely the more effort has been put into cooking up a scrumptious meal? Well Rebecca’s nasi goreng pattaya reportedly sucked, while my murtabak ayam was just mediocre at best – lots of unchewable pieces of chicken were stuffed into the murtabak, so it wasn’t a very pleasant eating experience.

The four of us (me, Khai Shin, Rebecca, Kenneth) donated RM5 each for some spastic children’s home, which was supposed to support two children’s worth of expenses for a week.

While eating our lunch, Rebecca told us of a music event job which I was quite interested about. Event jobs = fun = usually not-so-long hours = great pay. Long story short, Andy and I were supposed to sit Rebecca’s car to Pyramid after 5.30pm (my class ended at 4.30pm, Andy at 4pm) after Kenneth decided that he’d take a bus there himself, but some miscommunication saw Rebecca already at Pyramid wtf, so the two of us had to take a cab there.

At Starbucks old wing, we saw my RMIT friends there – like Kenneth, Yen Yee, Rebecca, and another girl whose name I forgot. They were already halfway listening to a briefing by a lady, and we signed up our names after that.

After teman-ing Andy to buy some food, we went out towards the bus stop and saw that it was beginning to rain, so I rang up my dad and found that he was still in the office, so we walked around in Pyramid whilst waiting for my dad to pick us up, and only reached home at 8.

Blood donation drive in my college. Kenneth told us that he really wants to donate but couldn’t as he had already donated about 3 weeks ago (requirements state that you need to have a 3-month ‘break’ in between), and he persuaded me to donate.. and so.. I.. did!

Fuck lah you think so meh what with me being dreadfully afraid of any needles entering me. Actually I would’ve tried to deaden my resolve and nerves but I clearly do not qualify under their stringent requirements for blood donators, not to mention that I’m still sick.

Mun Wah reportedly heard a blood donator’s friend exclaiming that the needle that was poking into his friend was at large and long as that needle one uses to pump a basketball wtf.

Standing on a higher ground to get a better picture of the proceedings below me. After this one dude had a needle inserted into him and then removed, I saw a gaping hole in his arm wtf. Horrifying. A tube then was brought by the nurse to be inserted into said hole.

Lunchtime at the new Berry Passion cafĂ© at SS15 (it’s a corner lot and is directly opposite the market). Nice, sleek, whitewash ambience, but the top level portion of this restaurant was still under renovation. When we went, they had an ongoing promotion for selected dishes (including my spaghetti) plus a jasmine tea drink for RM7.90.

Kenneth animatedly explaining something. It was also then that I found out that Rebecca was elder than any of us, older even than Kenneth who’s 23 this year (by a year). Holy – she didn’t look like it! For some odd reason I’ve always thought that she was the same age as me. That also possibly explains her tremendous insights of the working industry.

Funky expensive juices that cost somewhere between RM7-RM10.

We also discussed a lot about Melbourne and imaginary what-ifs that we could do when we are actually there (not that the entire group – me, Mun Wah, Khai Shin, Rebecca, Kenneth, Yen Yee) who were talking about it at that time were going to Melbourne anyway) – and suddenly I was quite excited about the whole prospect all over again. It does almost seem as if I’m reliving a new life at an entirely alien place, foreign weather, unfamiliar landmarks, strange almost estranged culture. At one point we also happily talked about how awesome it would be to rent a car there in Melbourne with a few others and drive around, armed with only a map and the collective group’s sense of direction (although I really could use my GPS wtf – but that sorta spoils the element of surprise!), ‘cause it really doesn’t matter if we’re lost, it’s still gonna be fun. =) Haven’t done this before in Malaysia even though sometimes wistful thoughts of this come up among me and my friends, so hopefully I actually get to do this abroad!

This also sorta marked the first Tuesday of this semester where we didn’t study and attempt our Macroeconomics 2 questions in the library/resource centre – rather, as our lecturer told us that she’s trying to finish certain topics quickly before the next visiting lecturer arrives, our tutorial classes will be used to lecture instead.

During our International Monetary Economics tutorial class, Kenneth asked if I want to stay with him while in Melbourne and I nearly quite incredulously said “Of course!” lol. I wouldn’t have minded staying alone but having a company would be great, especially when said company could cook up a mean tomato-based spaghetti when he found out that I like eating it during our earlier lunch and he told us that that’s his specialty. I then told him that if I were to cook there, he has to bear with my cooking for a while till I get it right, and he was like, “Err.. I think I’d rather cook myself then” wtf haih T____T.

Project 365 #19: Wednesday, 4th March 2009

Clubs & Societies Day organised by our college.

Guess which club I joined! Try and hazard a guess before you scroll down for the next pic.

Yes.. Table Tennis Club. Not that I’ve ever touched a bat for the last 5 years nor am I familiar with the game, I joined for fun since it was free anyway, and the club (whose Board of Directors are my acquaintances) needed members wtf.

After lunch with Rebecca and Khai Shin at the newly reopened Success (I ate some Sekinchan Pork Ball Noodles for RM3.80), I came back here for a while and jaga stall. I also managed to convince one dude who looked somewhat interestedly at this Table Tennis Club’s stall, and pitched in like a good salesman would till he joined hahaha. This picture depicts me and Wei Hsan, the president of this club.

To be honest I rarely participated in this sorta thing during my years with Metropolitan, but when your classmates are actually interested in doing this, you can’t help but join in the fun as well.

I also saw the notice on my RMIT board asking students who are interested to transfer to Melbourne and fulfilled certain criteria (like already completed 16 subjects including this sem’s, completed Malaysian Studies, etc) to sign up their names, which I did – Rebecca initially thought she couldn’t go as she had yet to complete another LAN subject, Moral Studies, and the requirements didn’t state this at all so maybe she could come with us after all. The Head of Department saw me and asked me about my mum’s cousin who used to be her colleague, and also asked if I’m satisfied with my time with RMIT. I was taken aback and was so surprised by this question I could only offer a simple “Yeah, of course!”, and then she in turn told me that she needed reassurances that they were doing the right thing.. or something.

Briefing for Melbourne-bound students will supposedly be held this month too.

Also, after my French class that night, I was chatting with Levy (who is incredibly hot by the way) while the both of us were heading downstairs towards our car – found out that this Mass Comm student of UTAR used to stay at USJ 11 (currently at Solaris) and after learning where I studied, asked if I knew Chong Yun and Chong Tat.. ‘cause the both of them are her cousins WTF. I would like to play the “ah, how inter-connected we are” card here.

jess: i’m not underweight! the minimum requirement was 45kg and I DO FULFILL AT LEAST THAT ok! hahahahaha.

i think donating blood is just the scariest shit ever, right up next to having a minor operation done to remove your wisdom teeth.. I actually have to do that but chickened out – it’s so fucking scary lah, I’m not even gonna be on general anaesthesia so i’d be completely aware of every single drill and cut!

suet: haha serious! *salutes

yeahh i know i told you before what about rebecca remember?

yep levy’s in my class. you know her ah? she told me she’s from DU or something then moved to SU or something.
