Project 365 #77: Friday, 1st May 2009

My uncle’s family came over to our house, after which my family brought them out to Ace & Spades at USJ 8 for dinner – also on the pretext of celebrating my parents’ 22nd wedding anniversary which falls on the 3rd. I deem the food served here as delicious luxurious cuisine – bill came to about RM200, so it’s definitely not a place I’d eat often. My normally frugal uncle insisted on paying though. 0_o

Project 365 #78: Saturday, 2nd May 2009

I had a sudden craving for the Penang char kuey teow served behind my house – I’ve mentioned here before that it’s the best of its kind available in Subang – and so at 10 minutes before noon, I walked over to the stall, smiled at the stall owner, and he widely grinned and told me that he had finished selling all of his stock.

I thought of leaving earlier at 11am but I ended up sticking around for a while in my house. -___- FML.

Do you know what it feels like to have a craving unsatisfied? I could taste the scrumptious, lightly cooked char kuey teow with just the right amount of everything placed on top of a banana leaf in my mouth, and it lingered throughout my entire journey of purchasing my lunch for me and my bro till I sank my teeth into boring ol’ chicken rice. -____- Sigh – I felt something was missing that would make my Saturday perfect that day.

Not to mention that as I was walking home, a strong gust of wind was whipping the trees around me and the rustle of the leaves brought hints of impending rain. Nothing of that sort materialised though.

In the evening as my stomach called out for food, I remembered reading Chris’ entry on a particular burger stall called The Burger Shop that was supposedly spectacular. Jon was around and free, so I pulled him along to try it out and we arrived at about 7.05pm.

It was instant recognition the moment I saw it – I’ve certainly passed by this stall a hundred times in the past at night on my previous cybercafe haunts but didn’t bother to try it out. Actually I can’t even remember if I’ve ever bought a burger before from that stall or not.

Another look for you SS15 regulars who would recognise where this burger stall is in an instant.

Presenting to you The Market which I go to rather often this semester for lunch.

Pretty sunset.

My Mushroom Burger for RM3.50. Unlike Chris, I didn’t add cheese that may enhance the taste further because of my lactose intolerance, so the mushroom burger tasted just alright compared to the likes of those from Carl’s Jr. or Burger King – but it’s definitely something new that the typical Ramli burger stalls don’t serve.

Jon’s Hotdog Cheese Special for RM3.60

We still felt a bit hungry after that, so I ordered a Fish Burger (RM2.90) while Jon had my Mushroom Burger. Not bad. In fact, like all typical roadside burger stalls, eating the burgers sold here has a caveat: its messiness when you sink your teeth in, plus the stickiness of the sauce stays on your fingers till you wash them off with water.

Watched Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain at night, but had to stop it halfway as I was feeling too damn sleepy so I continued it in the morning when I woke up. It’s a trippy, fantasy-like movie about a young sheltered girl who was filled with a sudden strange sense of justice to help the people around her in strange ways. The details expounded throughout the film were minute and helped add to the near-fantasy feel of the movie, not to mention that the yellow hues employed throughout the entire show fuelled the aforementioned surreality. Definitely a good watch – trust the French to come up with something refreshingly original at this. My Rating: 9/10.

Project 365 #79: Sunday, 3rd May 2009

Played Sonic Unleashed at midnight for about an hour. Got extremely frustrated when I kept losing just inches away from the bloody goal. Thrice. -___- Managed to complete that stage about 30 minutes later when it would take about 8 or 9 minutes. :/

Project 365 #80: Monday, 4th May 2009

Rebecca busy uploading her photos from her birthday celebration last week to Facebook, while asking Kenneth and Yen Yee to help her tag the photos lol. All 5 people pictured in the photo (Sam cannot be seen), including Khai Shin, Kenneth, Rebecca and Yen Yee, were on Facebook when they should be studying hahaha.

I only came to college at about 2.30pm and had to leave around 4.15pm. In fact, I was feeling a little lethargic the entire day due to me only sleeping at 4.30am (at 4am+ was busy playing around with the Dynamic Photo function Suet showed me on MSN – incredibly hilarious, for me anyway) the previous night.

I dunno if it’s just bad timing or what, but for the first time in a long while, I left about 10 minutes later than usual at about 7.10pm for my French class, and was swiftly caught in multiple jams. -____- Which caused me to be about 5 minutes late (which meant I nearly spent an hour on the road when I normally took 40 minutes to arrive), and worse still was when my class was prolonged till 11pm when it normally ends at 10pm+ ‘cause my French teacher decided to convince us to continue till Levels 2 and 3 as some of my classmates didn’t want to continue anymore – I would’ve continued if not for my 1-year relocation to Melbourne.

Reached home in just 30 minutes from near Mont Kiara to Subang – record time, baby. :D

Project 365 #81: Tuesday, 5th May 2009

At Coffee Cabana, SS15. Rebecca arrived to college in her new white Myvi, then fetched me, Khai Shin, and Kenneth there to join Yen Yee, Yi Wen, and Kah Kit for lunch at about 12.45pm. My set lunch of Cantonese Yee Mee and unlimited iced lemon tea cost RM7 (we were given a 10% discount, can’t remember if it’s just for students or what) – it tasted quite good.

In fact, part of our lunch conversational fodder (after Yi Wen and Yen Yee left early to go back to Ipoh) consisted of a discussion of whether Wang Lee Hom is gay or not wtf (after Rebecca told us how awesome his recent concert last Saturday was). We had two sources:

1) Khai Shin’s Taiwanese friend who’s working/studying? in the media industry, and apparently the rumours had been flying around for a while.

2) Kenneth’s friend who was a hairstylist for Lee Hom confirmed the rumours and said it was “kinda obvious”. wtf.

The general conclusion of the table: “what a waste” hahahahaha wtf does it even matter, the guy’s literally a genius, musically and linguistically! I’d venture that he’s nearly too perfect, what with his abilities and natural good looks and all.

Anyway I had a pretty productive day today – was in college from 10.25am-ish till 6pm studying, and managed to sorta complete reading up my IFP (Introduction to Financial Planning). Only two more subjects to study for! I was actually a little euphoric over my achievement today – now here’s hoping that my subsequent weekdays this week would be just as productive.
