Death of the Air-Con

Unlike other countries (un)lucky enough with the four seasons, Malaysia is blessed to remain simple enough with just the hot and the rainy seasons without all the annual complications. As a result, we need only one simple often-overlooked invention – the air-conditioner – and we know not the troubles people go through in winter to warm themselves up.

But yesterday was the mother of all hot days and as usual when the need to be cooled down arose, I turned on my air-con to make myself more comfortable. But what blasted out from the 20+-year-old machine (parents said it’s older than me wtf) wasn’t the usual chilling air, but a waft of unnatural heat that by the next few minutes I was sweating like crazy.

So the 20-year-old air-con just up and died untimely and I was forced to suffer under the full brunt of the heat for two days. :( But anyhow, a new Sharp Plasmacluster 1.0 HP is coming tomorrow evening (RM1.3k inclusive of RM150 installation fees), with all sorts of new technology (kills germs, bacteria, virii; refreshes the room, etc) that I couldn’t experience with the old faithful.

---

On Friday night, Shawn, Ding, Andy, Sarah, and I gathered at Shawn’s place as a temporary stop while the usual three of us Japanese language students work on our homework. We were joined later by Fang Chyuan, and as we were ready to go out to USJ 17 Melur to ‘surprise’ Jon for his 20th birthday, an insider source in the form of Shawn’s classmate and Jon’s churchmate Amie reported to Shawn that they were already leaving the mamak.

So we went to park in front of Jon’s Court 3, walked over to the 7-Eleven near Tien-Tien Fatt (which brought back lots of memories of how we ponteng class to eat at the aforementioned kopitiam) and went in search of muffins and candles, the latter which we couldn’t procure. So we bought the traditional ‘pop’ thingies (we damn cheap wtf), tried to walk through Court 3 via Court 6 but the gate was locked, so we used the long way around to reach Jon’s house.

And then for our room-dirtying mission:

Then we drank some Philippines beer and some wine and make merry…

...while Ding played Cabal on Jon’s PC wtf.

Group picture! Shawn and Fangki were holding the Philippines beer.

Okaylah lazy to blog edi my room is like an overheating oven despite my fan is set at 2 or 3.
