Deathnote the Movie

On the way back home after college, I picked up Daniel from his house (with Pui Yan, a classmate of mine who wanted a lift). Before we could reach his house at USJ 1, there was a MONSTER truck that planted itself right next to Giant and lo and behold even at 4.45pm there was already a traffic jam.

That monster truck is sadly known as MyDin.

We waded through the masses of zombified people in vehicles who could be any of the following:

  1. A potential customer heading to Giant
  2. A potential customer heading to MyDin
  1. Someone who just wanted to get into USJ 1 and out of it

If there is a good analogy for the time-wasting jam of USJ 1, I’d likened it to an incredible slow-moving fuckfest.

Ehehe rant aside, I picked him up earlier as I didn’t want to be trapped in an even slower-moving jam at a later time, so I fetched him back to my house where he played FFXII in my room. I took my much needed nap for a while, then later went out again at 6.30pm.

Picked up Andy, then Wai Hong and Fang Chyuan at SS14 who apparently couldn’t hail a bus due to the buses not appearing at all. After eating dinner at A&W Pyramid, we finally went into theatre 4 to watch Deathnote at 8.15pm.

Frankly I wasn’t a big fan of the manga – stopped reading it halfway in fact when the mangaka introduced too many plot twists that it started to not make sense (heck comics aren’t supposed to make sense anyway).

Eh but the movie was surprisingly good, followed the manga almost faithfully except the director’s own introductions of new elements to it. I wouldn’t say that the movie was top-notch but the fact that it was quite entertaining should be reason enough to watch it.

Quite looking forward to Part II of the movie. :)

We went back at about 11pm.
