Project 365 #20: Thursday, 5th March 2009

It was about 6.10pm when we were finally let off from our Introduction to Financial Planning tutorial class, but I stayed back for a bit when Kean Gin asked our lecturer – a Ph.D holder as he has the title ‘Dr.’ to his name – about sitting for CFA (Certified Financial Analyst) and CFP (Certified Financial Planner), something that never crossed my mind at all (especially since I never knew about their existences in the first place). What perked my interest was when Dr. Ravi earlier mentioned that if we’re interested, we should sit for CFP to equip us with life skills to plan our own personal finances, and if we do ever manage to pass the CFP, that would be a bonus too should we ever decide to work in an investment firm or a related company.

I stayed back as this is a momentous moment with crucial information which would probably change the course of my life should I ever decide to act upon it.. but not without another obscene amount for the classes and exams. -____- Sigh why is education so expensive!

Anyway at about 6.40pm I finally left SS14 where I parked, and embarked on an exciting GPS-led journey to Decanter Too to meet up with Chris, which I didn’t follow 100% at the beginning as I chose to use the NKVE rather than the LDP which I predicted would be jam-packed. RM1 toll later, I was following the GPS’ directions (made a wrong turning, but quickly resolved with a U-turn 200 metres after that) and noted that the roads were remarkably different than the one we used on our previous visit, and thought nothing of it since I’ve used plenty of new, never-before-seen roads during my countless other GPS usages to other unfamiliar territories.

And so I ended up at “Decanter 2”, as was listed in my GPS when I searched for “Decanter”. It was at a completely different area and not at the particular Decanter Too branch that I wanted to go WTF.

I then rang up Chris to tell him that I’m at the wrong branch of Decanter (“What!! How now?” came his reaction), and asked for his help to text me Decanter Too’s address (as he uses his 3G connection to go online all the time). I was searching again for “Decanter” in my Garmin when I found out that it was only 800 metres away from where I was, then when Chris’ SMS came, I first input “Prisma” (for Prisma Ville Business Centre), and when that didn’t turn up any results, I tried “19/70A” for the road’s name. Voilà, 750 metres away, so naturally I concluded that the 2nd Decanter I searched for has to be the right place.

About 4-5 unfamiliar roads later, I finally reached Decanter! ...at yet another unfamiliar location, and turns out that I was at yet another wrong branch. -____-

You’ll have to understand that at that point I was feeling exceedingly amused with myself and I could laugh out loud to myself. That goes to show how incredibly reliant I am on technology to get around and not rely on pure sense of direction, sigh, of which I’m lacking.

Finally on my 3rd try, I finally saw familiar roads and eventually parked at the road opposite Decanter Too (illegally). Rang up Chris there and then, he arrived few minutes later, and in we went!

Decanter Too has the best ambience ever. =) I personally like this pic.

Another look of the surroundings.

Fried lamb we ordered that was listed under ‘Snacks & Side Orders’. Odd, we thought, and it came out even more different than we thought, plus it was spicy. Not too bad although quite pricey at RM12.

Yet another side order, sauté onions (RM5), which was actually quite delicious!

My Hainanese Chicken Chop once more.

My dinner date of tonight.

Had such an awesome time chatting during that period of 2 hours – interesting revelations to be had too from the both of us.

I really like this pic too!

Obligatory duo shot when the dinner’s done. Actually this shot took multiple tries as I was taking informal Posing 101 classes from Chris – I didn’t know that there were so many seemingly complex things to think about just to pose for a picture, such as where to position my hands, how wide open my legs should be wtf, folding my shirt nicely so as not to appear selekeh, etc.

And another.

When our bill arrived, Chris scrutinised it and realised that we weren’t charged for our drinks at all…..

Chris: “What do you think? Should we tell them?”
Me: “Erm..”
Chris: “Well I’m morally deficient enough not to tell!”
Me: “Hahaha I’m quite morally deficient too. Aiyah no need to tell them lah.”
Chris: “You’re so going to hell Clem!”
Me: “I’m already going to hell.”

Hahahahahaha. Last line was kinda like an inside joke but maybe some of you know what I’m alluding to wtf.

We then went to the loo, went back out, and then I went straight back home, a journey that took me about 42 minutes exactly as timed by a GPS program.
