22 Oct 2008 2:28 pmI won’t be updating a lot these two weeks, and even when I do update – maybe just short, concise things I needed to pen down – don’t expect pictures galore. My finals began today with Financial Markets as the opening 2-hour paper in the morning, and I can’t say I did terribly well. To be honest, it was below par of my usual performance, and I have to put a minor blame on what a fellow forumer on Lowyat.net told me: the electromagnetic fields (EMF) effect, that can cause nausea, headache, fatigue, etc.
If you didn’t catch my Plurk yesterday, I wrote that I had a headache after talking on the phone for about 10-20 minutes with Chris while my handphone was still being charged – which also felt warm/hot while I was using it. This was my 2nd time experiencing this actually, so I suppose I’ve learned from my mistake and will probably switch to speaker the next time the same situation arises (or a bluetooth headset, which I found cumbersome to use, plus it depletes the handphone’s battery a lot, no?). I had this weird feeling in my head and felt a little nauseous the entire night, and only when I slept did this weird ache in my head, that I’m going to term it generally as a ‘headache’, fade away.

Caught Max Payne last Friday with Andy at GSC Summit – it’s definitely not as good as the actual game’s dark brooding noir feel (I loved the perpetual snow), but I didn’t think it was as bad as most reviewers who lambasted it seemed to have thought, although the ending was a little let down-ish. My ratings would be 3/5.

Last Saturday, after Andy invited me to go along with him to Shawn’s college in the afternoon, I accepted it to escape this whole mental diarrhoea that I was subjecting myself to. The very few pics I took would explain it all:

Amie, Shawn’s friend (sorry forgot his name), and Shawn in their TCPJ’s kitchen-cum-classroom. Shawn was merely pretending to be at work actually wtf.

Their kitchen looks soo surreptitiously clean and white and aluminium-like, almost like a lab.

Shawn and co’s stall in some unadvertised ‘Canteen Day’ sorta thing – selling hotdogs (RM4.50 per piece) and fat, juicy sausages at RM5 per piece. They also sold some incredibly sour drink for RM1.50 per cup.

Shawn preparing Andy’s sausage. This simple sentence sounds wrong on many levels.

Click to enlarge. A very spontaneous pic which I think turned out very well – I kinda liked it.
At about 4.30pm something we went back, got stuck in a massive traffic in Subang that materialised out of the blue on a Saturday evening (which isn’t supposed to happen), before I managed to reach home at about 5.30pm.
Sigh after not using my camera for quite some time, I think whatever photographic skills I had had depleted somewhat. *laments I realised that I’m using my camera more to document things like a journalist would, rather than to showcase my photography skills like an actual hobbyist would. But there’s an upcoming 12-hour Photo Marathon organised by Canon next Saturday, and I’ll be joining it with Mikel and friends! I’m not really aiming for the prizes since there’ll be gazillions of more talented photographers there, but just have fun, practise my skills, and learn from the experts. :)

After reading Suet’s latest entry, I can’t help but be reminded of a philosophical question that was presented to the viewers of Serial Experiments Lain, a fairly old, yet unconventional anime: If a tree falls in a forest, but no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Indeed, did it even fall?
If you exist in someone else’s memory, is that the same you as the real you? Does that you exist independently of you?

- demands a string of hearts, several seasoned travellers, and two pairs of sloppy sandals. More »

The guys name u forgot is Kelvin, Clem =) I know him from futsal when we joined Shawn for games.
I’ve yet to read this book called The Shack, someone posted this from the book and it really got to me. Hope you dont mind me sharing here.
“So why create the poisonous plants at all?” Mack queried, handing back the twig.
(Sarayu answers) “Your question presumes that poison is bad; that such creations have no purpose. Many of these so-called bad plants, like this one, contain incredible properties for healing or are necessary for some of the most magnificent wonders when combined with something else. Humans have a great capacity for declaring something good or evil, without truly knowing.”

yen: hahaha the next MPH sale i’d go la!
heng: thanks! =)
joe: ohhh ya! haha dang it my memory’s quite bad at remembering names of new people i met lol.
i love that part you quoted! and it’s so true, the last line. it’s always the fear of the unknown that gets to people. a few things off the top of my head that i think could apply is homosexuality, hiv/aids, xenophobia – like how Africans are treated here just because of the colour of their skin, etc.
