Do not buy HP computers.

I’ll tell you why in a jiffy.

After going out to Pyramid yesterday night with Teck Seng, Asa, Ding and Kai Shen to initally purchase my RAM (puts me off in the end because guy quoted RM310 when Jon’s dad offered only RM270 when I phoned Jon to enquire), and Kai Shen with his father’s birthday present, I was told that we had work tomorrow at Tiong Nam.

Daniel couldn’t go as he had to go to Tun Hussein Onn Eye Hospital or something in KL, while.. Andy could actually replace him but some complications arised and he couldn’t go in the end. >_> We went to the USJ1 cybercafe after the short Pyramid trip (huge rain and all), with Andy joining us there for some rounds of CS.

I went to Tarzan’s granddad’s restaurant a few minutes before the appointed 8.30am, with Teck Seng already waiting there. We waited for a while more while Tarzan was still not in sight. We went inside TS’s dad’s car to wait some more until he finally appeared at about 8.50am which was actually rather late, since we were supposed to reach by 9am.

Suffice to say, on reaching Tiong Nam at about 9.15am, our two senior colleagues (whom I shall refer to as fei zai and thin specky guy [TSG] from now on in my blog, since we didn’t ask for their names) were already gone, presumably to the UiTM campus.

Like, yay, were we going to go back home then? We rested inside the rest area-cum-storage (which I will refer to as ‘lounge room’ hereafter), and after several minutes, some senior dude (prolly in his young 20s) appeared, beckoned us to follow him and off we went in his car to the same UiTM campus as we went to the last time.

I just realised how freaking big UiTM is, because there are so many faculties, and you need vehicles to access each building because they are so far apart. There are also traffic lights at the exit/entrance of the building. o__o

The engineering faculty where we were placed at (or something else, I don’t know) had this rather high-tech lifts in which you actually key in the floor’s number that you wanted to go on this telephone-like keypad positioned outside the elevator itself. After keying in your destination’s number, a letter ranging from A-F (signifying the elevator concerned) will appear, telling you which elevator to go to. Very nifty. I took a pic of it using TS’s handphone but forgot to Bluetooth it to my own phone. Pic might come later.

We had an entire load of HP CPUs on a trolley, but we didn’t know what floor to go to, so we waited.

After a while, our two senior colleagues emerged from one of the elevators and looked at us all surprised. We continued transporting these CPUs to one of the computer laboratory like some buruh kasar (the pay is worth it so I won’t complain), stacking the CPUs on top of each other.. transferring CPUs from the trolley to the room.. you get the drill. Only TSG was with us, while fei zai was prolly in some other parts of the building

We completed our very easy CPU installation work and some hard labour at around 1.30pm; there were some other Malay dudes from some other company (just like the previous days) installing anti-virus and other protective shit in the PCs.

That wasn’t the highlight of my entry, of course. Finishing that, TSG drove us to this Chinese restaurant where we had our lunch. That’s probably the best lunch I ever had in my four days of working at Tiong Nam because UiTM’s cafeteria food was akin to eating what was sold at my high school’s canteen. In other words - sucky.

I expected TSG to drive us back to Tiong Nam, but he went out of the way to.. probably near the Klang area and went right into Jaya Jusco’s parking lot. “Wtf” was in our faces as he parked inside, and led us right into the mall.

Bet you’ve never been paid to WINDOW-SHOP. Dream come true for the girls eh? ;P

The mall was rather empty, it being a weekday and all especially in the afternoon, and was horrifyingly reminiscent of The Summit. Outside of Jusco, the area was like a scaled down version of Sunway Pyramid - even Starbucks was the smallest I’ve ever seen in my life, just a stall with several chairs and tables. @___@

TSG went inside the Factory Outlet Store to buy some clothes, so we rested outside on the bench.

A rest after a day’s hard work, while still getting paid. No supervisors. The only one higher-up there is is a lady who was supposedly some big shot from HP Singapore, who was supposed to be a complete biatch according to TSG. Haha. Too bad she’s stuck at the warehouse.

This is TSG looking at some selection of VCDs when we went into Speedy.

After walking around aimlessly for an hour, walking into sports apparel stores like Nike, etcetc, we finally went back to Tiong Nam and reached at about 3.30pm, just in time before the rain set in. Turns out that we have more work to do (learnt something new on disassembling the very CPU we were working at), including rough labour.

The container thingy we saw when we went back to Tiong Nam. @__@

Judging by how the Tiong Nam employees were hurling the CPUs roughly around (they literally threw the HP CPUs - all boxed up, of course - when we were passing around to stack them up in our lounge room), you will have second thoughts on purchasing a HP computer. We told each other to refrain from buying a HP after experiencing first-hand what happens behind the scenes. ;P

And I finally purchased my 512MB SDRAM from Jon’s dad.. went over to his house at night to pick it up. Woot. Installed it on my PC and bloody hell, my PC is as smooth as a baby’s bottom (wrong simile, I know haha) that I could shed a tear after suffering the unnecessary lagness and slowdown all this while.

My PC is reborn.

Yeah heard from Jon that your PC restarted by itself repeatedly after running your PC for 20 minutes. >.>
