Double memes

I thought ‘meme’ was a silly word and I thought it was pronounced as “mee-mee”. Turns out it has a whole..genetic background and it’s supposed to be pronounced as ‘meem’, if I got it correctly.

From Yen’s tag:

How many schools did I go to?
- SK Jalan Pasar I & II (horrible name) for Standard 1
- SK Seafield, for Standards 2 & 3
- SK Seafield (3), from Standard 4-6
- SMK USJ 8, from Form 1 till Form 5

Was I the studious nerd, or the last minute hero?
Last minute works the best.. of course when it comes to maths it’s a different story altogether.

Was I the class ?taiko? or the teacher?s pet?
Neither.

What was the biggest rule I broke in school?
Ponteng kelas, datang lewat, curi-curi pergi Tien Tien Fatt.. among other things. Not that we were ever caught for the former, nor the latter. ^^

Three subjects I enjoyed.

  • English - duh. ‘nuff said. If you’re talking about the lessons I spent my time sleeping during En Aziz’s classes all the time.
  • Bio - I enjoyed Ms Then’s lessons. Yeah. o__o
  • Maths - I had mental arithmetic lessons when I was about younger, so it helps a lot. <_<

    Three teachers that inspired me.

  • Cik Thamayanti - my primary school teacher who was my biggest source of inspiration back in my younger days. Stood up for me and all. In fact, so many students liked her so much they named the volleyball and football team after her, that she had to plead them to not use her name.. such as the STFC - Super Thamayanti Football Club. LOL.
  • Pn Zainab - despite having not taught my class at all, she still kept in touch via SMS as I was in the editorial board of the school mag. So close the entire gang of us, in fact, that she shared our hatred towards a particular school teacher. Her last SMS was when she was enquiring for my SPM results.
  • Pn Zuana - the coolest English teacher we ever had when we were in Form 3. After changing English teachers month after month, she was to be our teacher but she shifted to Langkawi at the end of the year, and finally back at SMK USJ 13. She discussed movies, music, TV shows (imagine that), and everyday happenings with us and is the most open-minded teacher ever. We even attended her wedding.

    From Suet’s meme:

4 jobs you?ve had in your life:

  • Nanyang Online - Call agent. Telemarketer. Take your pick. Worked as one in Form 3 initially just for fun as well as to get extra cash, but gawd, I am so not working as one of the people whose jobs annoy me the most. Especially colleges who kept pestering us to join their oh-so-wonderful institutions.
  • F1 Sepang - Thanks to Kean Leong, we managed to work inside the circuit! :D Worked there last year and this year, and it isn’t as glamarous as I thought.. what with the ugly costume and the horrendous accursed weather. Nice experience though.
  • Old Town Kopitiam, Taipan - Worked early this year over a period of 10-11 days. A detailed entry portraying their slavery can be found here.
  • iPLAY and CUE magazines - Freelance contributor. Nice to see your articles published and getting paid for it, although it isn’t much. Plus you have to research a lot. >_>

4 movies you could watch over and over:
I normally don’t re-watch movies, except maybe just once or twice. So.. here’s a list of movies I think are fairly insightful and nice that comes off the top of my head.

  • Brokeback Mountain - The beautiful love story.
  • Taegukgi - Sosososososo touching war story, prolly the best I’ve watched in all the years of watching war movies. >_>
  • Grave of the Fireflies - Depending on how you look at it, this being a movie-length anime, thought it should qualify as a movie. >_> Another war-related movie that’s rather morbidly depressing and gets you to think after watching the ending.
  • Constantine - Christianity + exorcism featured at its best. I love the scenes of Lucifer and Gabriel. Woot.

4 TV shows you love(d) to watch:

  • Lost - please stab each limb for every episode you miss.
  • Everybody Loves Raymond - I used to catch Monday comedies after midnight until I stopped watching telly programmes altogether and rely on the oh-so-powerful things called Ares and BitTorrent.
  • Charmed - Used to be my favourite show. Used to be my source for escaping the real world.
  • Armed Reaction - I used to watch plenty of TVB dramas until I stopped entirely due to lack of time and lazyness.

    4 places you?ve lived:

  • Cheras, KL.
  • USJ 14, Subang
  • Bandar Utama (stayed over at my best friend’s house almost every other school holiday last time)
  • All Leisure Holidays apartments/resorts.

4 places you?ve been on vacation to:

  • Langkawi - a lovely after SPM trip.
  • Somewhere in Malaysia.
  • Somewhere in Malaysia.
  • Somewhere in Malaysia. Have never been out of here.

4 places you would rather be:

  • UK
  • Japan
  • Australia
  • Tibetan mountains

    4 of your favourite foods:

  • Pizza, spaghetti, Western food. Yum
  • Sushi
  • Char kuey teow.
  • saigoheiki.com - duh!
