Driving, pt Shawn/Shawn’s dad/night

Was about to go online at nearly 9pm, when I received a phone call from Shawn saying he’ll come over to pick me up..and we’ll go for a test drive on his manual car together.

His dad picked me up and we went together to TP (Taman Perindustrian) near USJ3. When the car stopped, Shawn and I looked at each other, and I said, “You go first.”

So off we trotted in the Proton Saga while Shawn drove around, and I felt a little afraid at that time..with Shawn :P Soon it was my turn and I was almost ready to go when Shawn’s dad went, “Seat belt.”

>_>

So off I went to the same route that Shawn went to, and I wasn’t comfortable with the position of the gear and clutches, plus I can’t feel the clutch very well as I was wearing only my thin-layered sandals. The junction loomed ahead of me, and Shawn’s voice droned, “Turn right! Turn right!” I panicked slightly; the car was zooming in at 40kmph and my feet frantically moved about trying to feel the clutch but couldn’t so I finally overshot the junction and braked slowly.

Holy Mother Mary. The car made some weird noises and I soon realised in my panic, my gear was in free position >_<

Apart from that, everything went almost smoothly, after Shawn asked me to step on the pedals on my bare feet instead. Both of us took turns to drive around TP.

At this junction with the traffic lights where we’re supposed to U-turn, the car veered dangerously trying to position itself on its own lane while Shawn squealed and said, “Clem..I’m never gonna sit in your car again!” No really, I didn’t drive that bad. :)

At our final round..which was Shawn’s turn, just as we were about to accelerate the car, another car with flashing lights on top of it stopped next to us. They were wearing luminous yellow vests. Uh oh.

Turns out they were only guards patrolling the neighbourhood and questioned whether we were waiting for anyone. I managed to breathe after that.

Shawn’s dad taught me lots of things that would have been practical on the road, but because of JPJ stupid restrictions like both hands on the stering etc, can’t really use it during the test. But ‘twas a fun driving-out-at-night stint, and my first.
