Drop me a line today.

I’ve just finished talking to Andy on the phone, and it strikes me how I actually love conversing on this valuable communication equipment. Talking - something I somewhat enjoy - seems much easier to do sometimes over the phone for reasons I know not of; maybe the fact it guarantees some degree of anonymity compared to using the Internet (with almost 100% anonymity depending on how much you wish to reveal) makes it a catalyst for good conversations.

Not that my telephone conversations are that long these days anyway (or the recent years for that matter), as the privilege of dialling through your mobile phone doesn’t come cheap.

5 years back, handphones are seen as a luxury item, and I remembered using my trusty ol’ cordless phone back then every so often, engaging in animated conversations with my primary school friends over very trivial matters that could last ten minutes, twenty minutes or more - calling another person’s house is probably dirt cheap as opposed to calling to a mobile number.

Longest telephone conversation that I could remember is probably almost an hour long with Julia, 5-6 years back.

Of course if you’ve said that you too have a long telephone conversation, it’s probably with your boyfriend/girlfriend, no? Have you ever tried just sitting down and engage in a long telephone conversation with a friend in the very recent years?

I just missed the connection, talking on the phone for minutes and minutes long instead of using instant messengers like MSN Messenger (Windows Live as it is known as now). I just missed the closeness, the relative bond you have with the person on the other end - nothing sexual, nor lovey-dovey, just a simplistic joy in being able to connect with the other party in a semi-realistic manner, without being obscured by virtual barriers like the Internet.

Imagine how 3G’s video-call would change the meaning of phoning entirely, which I’m not rich enough to bother with (not that anyone else around me uses 3G, so it’s pointless to get one anyway).

Browsing through my received/dialled calls show an average of 30 seconds per conversation, with the exception of Andy’s call of 16 minutes 23 seconds made at 1am earlier about Accounting.

Drop me a line today.

I’ll totally call you! ♥

Well maybe not. But I would if I had the cash to. :(

Meaning you should call me. It’s more gentlemanly anyway. :3

The longest phone conversation I had was with my friend Tiffy, who lives in Florida and calls me like once a week.

She hadn’t called for a few months for reasons I don’t know, but we spent 3 and a half hours catching up. Since she’s blind and the only way I can talk to her is on the phone, but her life is filled with so much drama that only fifteen minutes of the time spent talking was about MY life in the past few months. xD

heh yeah your post makes me wanna pick up the phone and just call someone- anyone. in fact, if only i have the three way thingy, or four ways, or ten. so i can call the whole gang and we can all talk!

i used to talk to baz on the phone for at least an hour every single night last year. nthg lovey dovey, just about life, about childhood memories, lame jokes, sometimes even serious philosophical matters.
longest ever was for five hours. zomg.

Saki: International phone calls are even more expensive.. although we could try over MSN. I don’t have a mic though :/

Aww, maybe you should phone Tiffy and catch up instead? :p

Suet: ahhh yeah!! Been wondering how to talk to each other in a group at the same time, I think it’s called multi-conferencing or something.. only selected phones or whatever support this.

You girls memang can talk damn long LOL. 5 hours even.. wowww. Huhu, I really missed the primary school days.

I’ll tell Esther that.. if I remember too :p

daniel: *kupu-kupu berterbangan, angin bertiup sepoi-sepoi bahasa*

Second trip to where? Why so random wan? Second trip to Telekom Malaysia?

Mics aren’t that expensive. And you could teach me Malaysian! ♥

Tiffy called not even three days ago. xD She told me about the drama between her sister and other silly stuff like that. I told her about the guy who bought my Seals and she was speechless like “OMGWTF ME NEXT.” xDD

that’s because we were talking about holiday-ing again the other day. we wanted to go on a cruise to Bali!

sounds good eh?

Gravatar

Saki: lol, it’s good to be a listening ear sometimes.

Suet: haha.. if you talk to my about holidaying or travelling I’ll be glad to talk for hours as well :p Yeah sounds reaalllyyyy good. Though I don’t think I’d fancy cruise that much, prefer flying to Bali and enjoy it there hehe.

haha you reminded me. maybe i should drop mei ling a line today.

cheap here. 25 cents unlimited for house phone calls. as for me calling malaysia…i have a card and its affordable.

Gravatar

That’s really bloody cheap wei.. 25 cents for unlimited house phone calls!!

Do you call your friends in Malaysia every now and then? How much ah calling cards over there, and berapa they charge you for calling back to M’sia?

Hehe just getting ready in case I ever opt for that 2+1 degree programme. Huhu.

Gravatar

eh, rephrase. 25 cents to call another house phone, and you can talk as long as you want (just in case you thought i was saying, 25 cents and you can call as many house phones as you want :P)

i use HELLO! phone card because it is the best. the rest kind of cheat your money or the connection will go cacat (even though HELLO! been disappointing me these few days. i called May Peng and she couldn’t hear me but i could hear her).

they come in $10, $20 and $50. for the 10 bucks card, you get around 2 hours worth of phone calls back to malaysia. if you’re lucky, they sell the $10 card for $8.50 :)

come to sydney!!!!!! why noone come here wan :(

Gravatar

lol yeah, I understood that. That’s still cheap regardless. =p

ohh.. okay I’ll keep that in mind XD

lol I’d love to go to Sydney too, buttttt my twinning university is in Perth. :( Not that Perth is any bad, but eh maybe the cost of living in Perth is lower?

Gravatar

yes, very cheap. i got so excited that when i made a new friend, i call that fella for so long :P

people say perth is cheaper (maybe flight ticket only kua?), but i haven’t experienced it myself so i dunno. haiyoh. perth only kah? ish ish…perth got more malaysians, because it’s near to malaysia :P

Gravatar

lol, i’m sure if i’m in your place I’d do the same too XD

eh I don’t even know where Perth is lol, as in which part of Australia. Yealo the twinning university (Curtin) that we’re signed up with is in Perth, so no choice. I heard also that Adelaide has the cheapest cost of living compared to other places in Australia. :p

Gravatar

perth is the nearest to malaysia. you fly to australia, you will reach perth first. sydney is right at the end. suey. that’s why so expensive.

Gravatar

Ohhh.. no wonder.. so Sydney is right at the other end.. swt. Thanks for the info! XD Might have to look at a map soon :p
