Exit Malaysia, Enter Melbourne

I’m at the waiting area for my flight at LCCT.

This is all completely surreal.

It has yet to completely sink in.

So in 24 hours a myriad of possible bad lucks threw themselves at me and I’ve managed to fall sick – bad sore throat, running nose, and what felt like a coming fever – and my ‘y’ of my laptop’s keyboard falling out (fortunately my MacGyver of a dad managed to fix it).

Exit humidty, LCCT, 33C on average, roti canai, mamak, durians, shops that open till way late at night, family, extended family, friends, haze, palm oil plantations, Proton and Perodua cars, Decanter Too, rampant local political bickering, 21 years of my comfort zone centred in Malaysia.

Enter Tullamarine Airport, 15C highest till the lowest of 8C, the excitement (and nervous apprehension) of discovering something new, shops that close at 430pm, smoke-free bars and clubs, cheap wine, shopping for groceries, cooking (perhaps), new friends, new world, new uncertainties, and completely out of my comfort zone.

Goodbye Malaysia, hello Melbourne.
