Fangki goes to Leeds

Quick post ‘cause I have a test tomorrow at 10am, and am skipping my 8am Financial Markets lecture because of it (after discussing our attendance with my college partner-in-crime Rebecca). Yeah, I know, I’m apt to blog right before my exam commences wtf.

Yesterday right after my Japanese class, went to the bazaar in front of Jon’s house to buy some drinks and food, tapau back to Ding’s house to eat (I had a murtabak ayam for RM2.50) for a while, then rushed out again ‘cause we only learned the news of Fangki departing from Malaysia from Wai Hong, then went to Shawn’s house to copy over some vids into my thumbdrive (WH’s infamous ‘Quiz of the Day’!), then went back to my house.

Shawn initially wanted to send off Fangki at the airport as well, but as he had to have dinner with his sisters and dad or something, so I took his place, filling up Jon’s car to exactly 5 people.

We went straight to the airport in Jon’s car (us being me, Jon, Wai Hong, Andy, Ding), made a ridiculous lie about not being able to send Fangki off but at the same time tried to discover where he was exactly, then met him at KFC with his family and his own college partner-in-crime.

Fangki, leaving to Leeds, England to continue his mechanical engineering studies.

His parents belanja-ed us drinks and two boxes of coleslaw, and kept thanking us profusely for attending. I also showed him Jessica’s SMS to me which basically wanted to convey her farewell message, and he said he ‘gamdong’ hahaha.

Group photo!

Another better group photo I think, but we had to stand far back a bit and I looked like I was sitting on an invisible chair.

Soon after at about 8.45pm, he went into that departure gate that was like a cut-off point with Malaysia – as if once you enter that gate of utmost significance, there is no turning back and you’re already leaving the country for a good time to come. :(

We then went all the way back to Subang, while Ding, WH, and I were chatting ridiculously in erm newbie Japanese, dropped off Andy, then went to USJ 9 Sumo restaurant to eat. Reached home at 10pm plus.

---

I went to the Maxis Centre at Sunway Pyramid for the 4th time to port myself over to Maxis. Surprisingly there was a huge number of people that morning (my dad and I also went to DiGi Taipan beforehand to change the name of the prepaid to his), and we had to wait for quite a while before it was my turn.

Spotted this magazine-brochure from Maxis, whereby it had my dream phone, the HTC Touch Pro, selling for RM2299 if we subscribe to Value Plus 150 for 2 years or RM2499 if we were to tie ourselves down with Value Plus 80! (Retail price range from RM2999 to RM3099.) Mmmmm after SMSing my Maxis friends whether they’re using prepaid or postpaid, I suddenly thought of Chris, and because his bills are quite high monthly, he agreed to help me out! That’s why I loveee him so much wtf (in a non-romantic manner).

Anyway! Halfway through the entire deal, received an SMS from Alvin who asked if I was free to have lunch with him, to which I said OK too and told him I was at Pyramid’s Maxis Centre and I wasn’t sure when I would finish. He didn’t reply.. but he showed up like 20 minutes later at the centre wtf. Apparently he ran out of credit.

(Also I received an RM10 bonus reload credit from DiGi the day before – on Friday wtf. It’s as if they were trying to persuade me to stay haha.)

I was told that the port-over would be done by Monday, but on Sunday at about 4pm, received the double-combo of SMSes from DiGi and Maxis respectively that my port-out request is complete! My DiGi SIM card was automatically deactivated there and then.

And now I’m a Maxis user, while still using the 016 prefix. =)

BUT it’s as if hell has only just begun wtf. I accidentally unsubscribed myself via Maxis’ website from this value-added service called CLIP, because I thought I was going to be charged for it as mentioned on the website – CLIP is this very basic service, which I learned later on, that allows you to discover what numbers are calling your phone. Now I keep getting the word ‘Unknown’ whenever someone calls me instead of a phone number WTF!!!

And I couldn’t activate it back!

So I called Maxis customer service again, guy helped me to activate it back.. and told me it’ll be done in 15 minutes. That was 1 hour ago zzz.

AND guess what! The first time I called Maxis and this Indian lady picked up, I was told that I was in this plan which I have to pay RM10 monthly access fee what is this! I wasn’t in that Family Plus 30 plan that I wanted to subscribe myself under – I was told by Esther in Plurk that it was actually a normal supplementary line, not that Family Plus plan. :(

So yes it’s the Pyramid’s Maxis Centre fault all over again, and yes, I am in a continual wild goose chase yet again.

Goddamn it – Maxis better not disappoint me.

---

I went and ate with Alvin at this Korean Bar-B-Q restaurant near the ice skating rink, and god it was such a disappointment. For the RM20/pax (inclusive of tax) price they were charging, the food was really mediocre, the place reeked of some weird smell.. oh, and I met my old primary classmate Foo Joe entering the restaurant at almost the same time too.

Chatted loads with Alvin, took a bit of some time to locate his car as he couldn’t remember where he came out from wtf, then reached home at about 2pm.
