Farewell, Jess and Heng

We had a series of farewell dinners and meet-ups during the last three days (including today), and another forthcoming for Heng tomorrow morning. Two of our extended family members – Jess and Heng – will be leaving for their universities in Penang and Labuan respectively.

We were fortunate to not have a large number of our clique members leaving to other countries thus far (save for Suet), and in a way we still have not been torn apart by the large degrees of separation by distance. And now that both Jess and Heng are departing for other states in Malaysia and leaving us for 3 years (except for the occasional returns during holidays), I’m gonna miss their presence.

Goodbye Jess, my classmate for 5 years (remember we were a ketua tingkatan and penolong ketua tingkatan team in Form 1!) and good friend of 8 years, and to Heng, ex-DotA kaki, drinking buddy and a great friend since Form 3. (wtf this unintentionally sounds like an eulogy which it’s not ok!)

On Wednesday night the whole bunch of us went to Teluk Gong for a farewell dinner at New Greenery or something like that. We went in three cars, I was in Jon’s along with Ding and RB. Tons of pics galore:

Sze Vien, Heng, Ding with RM200+ specs, Shawn. (Click to enlarge.)

Ryui Bynn, Jon, me. (Click to enlarge.)

Kailan (some weird vege), kangkung belacan, fried squids mmm. Later on there were two other plates of crabs – one sweet and sour, the other with salted eggs – and a plate of lemon chicken! And Esther, Adrian, and Kai Tzin were supposed to come too but in the end turned out that Esther’s car had some problem after her gearbox was kicked by her niece and then wouldn’t start. >_>

Raising up our glasses as if we were in a wedding dinner wtf as Shawn gave a speech for Heng and Jess. Shawn etc were unintentionally out of focus but I thought it gave rise to a nice effect.

Heng’s turn for a speech.

Jess’ turn. (Click to enlarge.)

zomg this picture damn priceless ok, someone was teasing Suet and she was like “Chibai!” and hence the middle finger. (Click to enlarge.)

Still listening to Jess’ speech or laughing at Suet wtf. (Click to enlarge.)

Yamseng! (Click to enlarge. Eh actually damn lazy to keep repeating ‘click to enlarge’ so if you hover your cursor over the subsequent pictures and it changes to a hand with a pointing index finger, that means the pic is clickable to enlarge (like duh).)

Jess, Suet, Sarah, Sze Vien – the only girls around.

And the guys (with me grinning like an idiot wtf).

Candid shot.

Supposedly serious group pic of the guys.

Ding, Sarah, Suet.

Damn lousy group photo (snapped by one of the waitresses there) and it was actually a little blur but nothing some touching up couldn’t do.

Jess and Andy.

And in case you hadn’t noticed, the guys were all dressing up formally which was a last minute decision after Shawn, Ding, and I discussed about “doing something memorable” after our Japanese replacement class. Hey surprisingly all guys involved were sporting enough and RB went to the extent of bringing his coat too. And the girls.. well no one seemed to have contacted them wtf.

After the dinner we went all the way back to Station One Taipan till about 1am before leaving separately, with Shawn, Ding, and Sarah decided to go to Yap’s house.

Thursday night, Heng’s mum belanja a few of us dinner for helping Heng at Sunway’s Tien Tien Fei (can’t remember the exact name) Lai – Shawn fetched Xin Min, Heng, and Heng’s mum, while I picked up Jess. Quite delicious taichow-style Chinese food though I’m unsure of the price.

You can actually see Heng’s mum in the reflection here wtf.

After the dinner I went straight for my Chinese class (was about 20 minutes late but had already told my teacher beforehand that I’d be late), then after that I picked up Ding and we went to Jess’ house where nearly the entire gang was already there.

Later on Jess’ mum gave us some money to order McDonald’s, and Andy and Kai Tzin went out to buy the food while picking up Suet on the way. Tons of nuggets galore (40 pieces!) mmmm, and everyone else ate so little of it so me and Ding ended up finishing the whole plate of nuggets.

Lepaking and eating.

Baby Alex and Alicia. Damn cute la the little drooling monster.

After the long chats and gobbling up food and sleeping for a while (yeah, as usual, that’s the typical ol’ me), we went back around 1am.

Then this morning at 8.08am Andy woke me up with a phone call and I had to quickly get ready in less than 10 minutes. My head was completely heavy but nothing some funny stories couldn’t help clear – Audrey’s (of Jess’ and Heng’s Form 6 gang) dropping her phone & camera incident (sigh I know, we’re such sadists) and Suet’s bro and the “fire alarm”.

We then went to Melur USJ 17 at about 9am for The Last Breakfast and I believe our extended family was amazed by Audrey’s chattiness.

At about 10am we had to go back to Jess’ house, and we then sent her off with a round of hugs and laughters. Thank god no one cried – at least Jess’ final memories of Subang would be of us laughing together for a final time.

Group pic without Jess wtf damn bad. Audrey was snapping this photo (after I explicitly warned her not to drop my camera lol) and Xin Min wasn’t in the picture too.

Further fooling about. I’ll leave what Shawn was doing up to your imagination.

We then went back home – Heng dropped by for a short while about an hour later to use my laptop.

Another farewell which require us to wake up at ungodly hours again tomorrow morning.
