Fill in the blanks

Watched 300 with Ding, Andy, and Wai Hong at Summit on Friday afternoon – and if there’s one word to sum it up, it’s definitely ‘epic’. My take on the show can be found here.

At night the usual DotA kaki (me, Ding, Heng, FC) plus RB headed for Kaos SS15 for our 3-hour DotA-ing bliss (against Heng’s Form 6 mates at one point), then we went for our usual mamak session at the unnamed stall in an alley near Salmon Steak and a cybercafe.

Saturday sunny afternoon saw Andy and me in Suet’s car to 1 Utama, more for general window-shopping and collecting these rave party tickets from Suanie and co, where a host of ‘celebrity bloggers’ were at Starbucks (New Wing): among which I noticed was jolly Boss Stewie who got interrogated by our fiery female companion for purchasing RM500+ worth of Haagen Dazs, and ShaolinTiger.

No pictures were snapped since I’m not too sure if a bunch of people huddling over the hot and humid exteriors of Starbucks would be comfortable with that.

We met up with Jess at Starbucks too, and much later on with Heng, after we did our own separate shopping. When the girls (including Suet’s two other girlfriends) went into La Senza, both Andy and I stood outside the shop like a couple of bra thieves while waiting for the snow to descend upon Malaysia the girls to emerge from the shop.

After what seemed like an eternity, I received a text message from Jess who asked us to go on and do our own spot of shopping. That is after pondering 15236 reasons why and how girls could spend that much time purchasing their undergarments when the way guys do it (at least, to the both of us, I in no way represent the entire male population), it’s like this:

5 STEPS TO PURCHASE AN UNDERWEAR

  1. Enter a shop/departmental store.
  2. Mentally decide what type of underwear we wanted, usually what we have worn for the past decade, and use selective vision to blot out other underwear types we don’t wear.
  3. Pick up a few packs of the appropriate size and select desired colours/patterns.
  4. Pay at counter.
  1. Exit shop/departmental store after 5-10 minutes.

I am honestly puzzled as to what IS there to look at to spend 3 different dynasties at a bra & panties shop when all that’s really required is: bra/panties size, colours/patterns, and possibly material.

    :S

Went off for dinner at William’s in KJ at almost 8pm (they look severely understaffed), went back to my place (with Heng), before the usual kaki went for another of our 3-hour DotA session till 1.30am.

I spent quite a bit yesterday – RM109 jeans-like trousers at Wh, about RM20 on a Gelato Fruity ice-cream and a juice at Juiceworks, and another RM20 for dinner at William’s. All that semi-controlled splurging made me feel decidedly happy for some reason.

    ---

I’ve been doing a lot of unspeakable things lately – and by that I mean it quite literally, of things I do by not speaking.

Have you ever petted a good friend on the back, and when he or she turned around and asked, “What?”, you just smiled and said “Nothing”?

As decidedly annoying as it may sound to the affected person – the one being petted upon – there are times when so many things streamed through my head that what I wanted to say wouldn’t come out through my decidedly sealed mouth, and I found it quite befitting to simply look into the other person’s eyes or facial features with what I wanted to say remained kept within me, almost as if I wished the other party could read my mind.

It’s not a worthless gesture, if that’s what you think it is. What on earth could be so difficult to say that you’d want to bury those few sentences together with you in grave? Perhaps arrogantly simple words like “Sorry” or “I love you” or “Let’s be together” may be hard to express verbally, that something that spans several sentences long is enough to make me want to express through completely nonchalant, cryptic actions.

It seems like an absent-minded action sometimes, putting arms around one’s shoulders, slapping the other on the shoulders – and then when I want to start mouthing off a word, I stop short, not wanting to spoil the rest of their gaily mood with my quietly pathetic troubles.

It’s also sometimes like typing an entry, in between the long pauses no one ever sees, in between the selection of appropriate words and deleting what should never be known, in between these are the forgotten, tragic words that may appear if you pay attention and squint really hard.

And just when I thought I found someone I’d want to spend my entire life with…

Maybe you could fill in the blanks.
