Final Concert

Here’s a short I-feel-like-ranting about my exams today.

English I was alright, did some story about a faceless Grim Reaper announcing the time and cause of my death XD (ripped off from the manga Death Note).

Now..BM. I had always detested Malay Literature and the novel Konserto Terakhir really irks me. Here’s why:

1. 1) The protagonist Hilmi, who is a bastard (literally), went on to be a successful musician after snobbed by the Datuk Johari family he was working at as a gardener before. And here’s what gets me (SPOILERS SPOILERS!): HE DIES! What a great finale.
2. 2) The usage of English words in the text to sound fashionable and high-class. UGH. It’s not like the Malay language is tainted enough.
3. 3) There’s obvious real lovey dovey love happening between Hilmi and Hayati (Datuk Johari’s daughter), and later, after Hilmi’s death, it’s revealed that Hilmi is the real son of Johari. WHICH MEANS, my friends, that this novel REEKS and SUGGESTS INCEST. If there’s any book that deserves to be banned (out of the ridiculous ones banned by the government), it’s this offending novel. How can this novel be published and USED as a literature component novel when it plain, blatantly reeks of INCEST? BAN I say!
