29 Oct 2009 11:30 pmSo Tuesday evening came, and against my better judgement and guilt, went out to watch Astro Boy at Melbourne Central’s Hoyts’ Xtremescreen, boasting an enormous screen and loud Dolby 8 surround sound. I went with Ethan, Spencer, and Desmond to the corner of La Trobe St / Swanston St and waited for Spencer’s friend, David, before we all went off to have our dinner. I had a $5 fish and chips—and yeah, it kinda was my first encounter with a set of fish and chips in Melbourne, even though it was supposedly rather common in kangarooland.
Astro Boy lacked a depth I had anticipated, and I found the humour in the movie to be rather kiddish. But it was Tuesday, the discount movie day for Hoyts, and getting an Xtremescreen for $11.50 was as best a deal we can get.
After the movie, we hung out outside at the staircase with the rest smoking—and finally came the moment where we all shook hands with Spencer and bade him goodbye, as he left yesterday evening en route to Singapore. And that was that.
Yesterday while I was taking the City Circle tram to the uni’s computer lab (both to study and to obtain a BluRay version of Up through questionable means), who else should I bumped into but Ethan. He looked dazed from not sleeping much, and we then ate at McDonald’s for lunch before heading over to the computer lab together.
Ethan mentioned at one point, referencing to Spencer’s sudden departure—a comment I hadn’t expected—that “it’s like grieving for someone dead”.
I replied that I’d feel just as worse, if not worst, when he and Brunei Boy return back home too.
But for now, I guess I’ll just live in the moment.

Not that important to note, but I thought this was amusing. Last Saturday I was out at about 11pm with Desmond and Ethan to Coles DFO to buy some stuffs (I bought a small pack of rice cracker for $1+), and on the way back to eating snacks/supper and playing card games, we passed by a vomiting chap, at La Trobe St / King St, who was puking into the squarish drain (or whatever you call it). A couple passed by, noted the scene and must’ve made a passing remark, as said friend yelled out loudly, “Don’t judge. You’re a bunch of old-fashioned fucks!”
