i’m lovin’ it

I crashed Johnny’s motorbike.

T___T

Just when he told me to “be careful with it”, I succeeded in doing nothing of that sort and crashed it 10 minutes into riding it into the busy streets of Chiang Mai. My heart was already filled with doubt at my capability of riding a motorbike in a busy town – what more a manual 125cc bike – but I did so anyway since both Siew and I had to return another rented motorbike to the shop.

And. Siew and I (on separate motorbikes) had to U-turn in the midst of droning vehicles, and as soon as there was an open chance, Siew zoomed off and I followed suit. What happened next: still on my first gear, I swung the motorbike to the right to turn, saw a manhole, swerved to avoid it by braking, released it too early, braked hard as I was feeling surprised by the sudden jerk, and.. crashed on my right side (version of How I Crashed by Siew, as during my panic I kinda tend to forget certain details and he saw the whole thing).

So I now sustain various injuries beneath my right arm (near the elbow), side of the stomach, thigh, and toe. T___T

Initially I was more worried about Johnny’s bike than my injuries – what with the guilt tripping my worry up a notch – but when we reached home safely in one damn piece (not including my injuries), he smilingly waved it aside wtf. Even though I told him there were scratches now on his exhaust pipe and he is free to inspect his bike thoroughly for further damage.

Sigh I don’t understand Russians. (Though of course I’m secretly glad it didn’t end up in heated arguments or anything ugly of that sort.)

---

Now apart from sustaining injuries, I now have diarrhoea that lasted for 3 days as of writing. It’s fucking annoying because I have to rush to the toilet and devastate Johnny’s poor toilet (and almost an entire roll of tissue paper) and deliver cringe-worthy sound effects from the recesses of his toilet. Which was rather audible, if you remember me telling you that Johnny’s apartment is a one-room only, with a single toilet and balcony attached to it.

I don’t know what I ate that’s causing this shit (no pun intended) now.

---

I just arrived in Bangkok at 6.40am earlier today, 14 hours ride by train. I was reeling from my diarrhoea (torturous I tell you) and had to drag myself with my heavy backpack around city. Note that we arrived nary a map nor the very important pre-requisite Lonely Planet travel guidebook, so we were as lost as sheep in the forest, and walked blindly everywhere wtf.

We managed to find this particular park by following signs and asking random people where we rested for a while, and guess where we headed to next. Sigh you guessed it McDonald’s wtf. It was about an hour’s walk with our heavy bag (rested at the park for an hour and a half).

But the McD’s here is freaking awesome – all hail McD’s!! It has McCafe which has (other than the usual coffee and comfortable seats etc) two computers with Internet access to use for free!! Free Wi-Fi too!! (Strangely the Starbucks here didn’t have Wi-Fi.)

The only downside is that it will consistently log you off every 15 minutes, presumably so that other people get a chance to use the PC for free to. It takes about 3 log offs before I can finish writing this entry (was sidetracked by reading blogs and the like). Currently waiting for our Bangkok’s host e-mail since we have to meet him at 5pm.

Now I have to log off for good to be the thoughtful Malaysian traveller and let other people use the PC.
