It was 1982.
I slowly roused to ‘It’s Gonna Take a Miracle’, her voice ringing, vibrating above the thunderous crescendo. Deniece Williams held me captive, slowly cooing the lines over.
It’s gonna take a miracle
Yes, it’s gonna take a miracle
To make me love someone new
A blend of harmonious melodies strung my heart up. I walked to the bedroom and looked at you, and said, “Wakey lovey!” I ran my hands over your hair; long, soft as the meadow’s, wet like the dew. You yawned lazily, stretching.
You sat there, smiling, weakly. I stood there, complacent, innocuously ignorant, naive. That everyone leaving my life one by one would be nothing as I moved on quickly to the next, safeguarding my world, myself. Safeguarding myself from you.
“Is there anything you couldn’t do?” you asked.
I paused briefly, my eyes flicked briefly. “I couldn’t be alone.”
I stared into your beautiful, imperfect eyes, and I placed your arm over your left breast, ever so slightly. Ever so gently. Your heartbeat pulsed a systematic rhythm. “It’s just love, man.”
And just like that, the two of us, at a home at the end of the world.

saki: aww thanks! :)
kaitzin: lol! nah, you know I wouldn’t take drugs.. I think. ;p
Click was nice, but I just prefer Lake House somehow lol. Maybe my anticipation of it makes me like the movie more, or something. :p
ozzie: that’s the one thing I couldn’t do – cry. These days at least. Maybe ‘cause I’ve done my share of crying when I was a kid and after a while I just couldn’t cry anymore. Not to movies anymore. I don’t know why.
yeah but that doesn’t stop me to be such a sap as well. :p thanks for the comment!
jess: hehe thanks! :D
naw I don’t have a girlfriend yet, thanks for asking. :p I do have some people in mind, however. it was inspired by a show I just watched before writing that piece, set in the hippie times.
