18 Oct 2006 3:40 pmGrowing up with daily doses of Tom & Jerry, Doraemon, and Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, these are nothing but cartoons that sedate the mind, that numb the eyes, that, at the same time, encourage the growth of what our limited vocabulary as a toddler has.
All of these made me remember that there was only one cartoon character that taught me to wink. You know, the act of closing one of your eyes, whatever you intend to convey doesn’t concern us at the moment. And that cartoon character, is one of the huge favourites of kids worldwide a decade ago: Jerry the Mouse!
It’s surreal. I wouldn’t normally be able to recall things that occured as a toddler, or even in my primary school days, but the one thing that’s still as vivid as day is how Jerry the Mouse taught me how to wink. Indirectly, of course.
So it was the ending of yet another episode through the VCR, after managing to outwit arch-nemesis Tom yet again, and sitting atop a table contentedly, Jerry winked at us, the audience, the kids, the adults, the occasional pimply teenagers.
Being a curious little kid, I felt compelled to imitate him, and rewinded the tape over and over again till I mastered winking with my left eye. Till now however, I couldn’t work my right eye to do the same.
I loved the things we watched as kids. Doraemon, seemingly able to do anything with his myriad of amazing items from his single pocket, sets our fantasies flowing. Even till now, if there’s one character from my childhood I loved the most, it’d be Doraemon.

Cartoons helped moulded me a little bit to what I am I daresay, but these days, there are too many idiocies cropping up in cartoons such as Cow and Chicken, that no wonder kids of the newer generation are getting.. dumb and dumber.
I believe. >_>

3 Thoughts to Jerry the Mouse

I’m not a pimply teen! I have a clear complexion. :( Aside from a zit here and there, my face is soft and smooth and blemish-free.
Cow and Chicken is pretty dumb.
But you also get awesome shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.
I was never a fan of Tom & Jerry. It would always bore me. Maybe because I felt bad for the cat, seeing as I like cats more than mice. So I would always be like “LET THE CAT WIN.”
But we all know he only wins like twice, and he lets Jerry go both times.
And.
POWER RAANGERRRRRRRRRRRS ♥

I actually liked Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. Courage the Cowardly Dog has always been a fun watch. So is Johnny Bravo.
But then again I don’t watch cartoons that often these days.
