Project 365 #71: Saturday, 25th April 2009

Ee Leen contacted me two Fridays ago out of the blue, wanting to arrange something for Jon’s birthday, and so, I was the representative of the u8 gang so to speak. Then on Saturday, in Shawn’s car, we went in an entourage to Ee Leen’s house at 11.30pm+ to write a message for him on a giant birthday card designed by Ee Leen – I couldn’t blog about it last week as Jon might read this and spoil the surprise prepared for him.

At Ee Leen’s place.

Shawn hahaha.

Working on said card, took us a while before we actually got down to do any actual work, with Shawn taking a full 20 minutes as he cracked his head to think and ended up with the most poetic of wishes: “Happy Birthday”. LOL.

That’s Shawn’s message in pink, mine on the top-left, and most notably, Shawn wrote a message on behalf of WH on the bottom-right – yes, that tiny piece strip of paper HAHAHAHA.

And so on Saturday night, Kai Tzin, Ding, and I headed over to Jon’s home (I went alone in my car, while Ding was in Kai’s car), and I was surprised to see his place rather bright. I found Kai and Ding on Jon’s new MacBook Pro in his room, so we hung around for a bit while checking out the new MacBook, then when the appointed time arrived, we killed all the lights and waited for Jon and Ee Leen.

When the cue of three knocks were sounded, we heard Jon’s voice, ”..Hello?” and then we jumped out and yelled, “SURPRISE!!!”. Turns out that Jon was incredibly surprised when he drove past his place and saw his unit brightly lit, but on arriving, he found his entire place pitch black and was beginning to suspect a robbery taking place, especially when he saw fire flickering in his kitchen (which was really the birthday cake’s candles lol).

Jon’s MacBook Pro that costs nearly RM9,000 – a gift from his parents. It’s an impressive piece of computing machinery – sounds from the speakers and the graphics in the monitor are crystal clear sharp, and there are a select set of impressive programs such as the GarageBand, of which the picture above is showing the tutorial on how to play a guitar by “Tim”.

Jon who just came in and saw his family, cousins, high school friends (well, 3 of us anyway), and college friends gathered in his home.

Cutting a two-layered birthday cake wtf. 0_o

Reading said aforementioned giant birthday card.

Jeremy the crazy guitarist.

Ee Leen.

Jon displaying Ee Leen’s personal birthday card to him – awfully creative idea, a mini-MacBook Pro replica!

Aww. The top-left red paper is another replica of an MSN conversation – thought it was just too bleeding creative. >_>

Kai Tzin left early, then Daniel and I went back home at around 11.30pm after I finished burning some CDs for my youngest bro.

Project 365 #72: Sunday, 26th April 2009

We went to Jon’s birthday buffet lunch at Pearl International Hotel at Old Klang Road in two cars – me, Kai, WH in Ding’s, and Andy and RB in Shawn’s. We arrived at about 12.15pm.

Cakes, cakes, and more cakes – all of which I couldn’t taste but it’s not as if I craved for ‘em anyway.

A wide array of good stuff.

More Japanese food.

My first round of food – Jon’s dad was rather shocked at the amount of oysters me, Kai Tzin, and Shawn took.

WH, Andy, RB.

WH the waiter pouring iced green tea.

Kai and Shawn sharing a laugh.

Shawn and Jon’s dad in deep conversation – at one point Jon’s dad told us that Jon was “too good” (drawing the analogy that Jon is white while Jon’s dad is black wtf), which I thought was just amusing.

Jon’s dad also treated us to some sake – which tasted alright, but the best rice wine I’ve ever tasted was still the sweet Vietnamese rice wine that made my insides felt all warm and nice – on top of the RM50++ per head buffet the Loh family was treating all of us to.

Our table on ultra-wide angle.

Shawn snapping a pic of our table.

Jon & Ee Leen – considering how dark the location of our tables were, I thought the flash here worked wonders.

So we ate for 2 hours-ish before we moved on to the birthday cake. Also during a better part of the dining, Kai Tzin and Shawn kept doing circular motions on the rim of the glass to produce a deafening resounding sound which Ding was trying very hard to replicate (but couldn’t). Even the foreign waiter who saw us doing it succeeded in doing it as well lol.

Singing a Happy Birthday song to Jon.

Cutting the birthday cake.

Shawn and RB stood next to Jon on the pretext of wanting to snap a photo with him when they suddenly whipped out the cakes they took from the buffet counter and smashed Jon with it.

Hahahaha priceless. Jon’s mum told us that she KNEW when Shawn is invited, such a thing will happen wtf and so she actually asked Jon to prepare extra clothes to bring along.. lol.

Shawn and RB celebrating their success.

..not before Jon had the last laugh by wiping the remnants of the cake on them.

Group photo of the u8 gang! As you might have noticed, what’s left were the bunch of sausages.. >_>

Group photo of all of us minus RB who was snapping the photo. Click to enlarge. We did have the waiter snap a photo with RB in it but it was unmistakably sucky..

We went to the arcade in the same building (mall part of the hotel) and played this “Find the Difference” sorta game, on RB’s behest (and 3-4 50-sen worth of coins).

In hindsight, it was rather funny to see 6 young adult men gathered over a small arcade machine and jab our fingers at the screen furiously. Through this game we also learned that Kai possessed supreme prowess in detecting very minute differences, and probably without him, we’d have long since lost the game. We managed to beat all 20 levels of the game on our 2nd try when we were forced to start from Level 1 again.

Kai and RB followed Ding’s car back, so the few of us that remained stayed on to finish the last coin that RB had, and Shawn decided to choose some stupid sports game. Walked around for a bit before we finally headed back home, where I was fast asleep in the car all the way through – was feeling rather tired then.

Project 365 #73: Monday, 27th April 2009

Stupid broken chair I was sitting on in the resource centre before my Law of Investment lecture began. Switched it to another one shortly after this picture was taken.

My French class tonight was rather interesting – we had this Chinese woman coming in as a guest, in our French teacher’s words, who’s from Level 2 (we’re all Level 1 students), and she can speak rather well if you overlook the fact that her French was rather broken, but still way ahead than us nonetheless. We were supposed to shoot her with questions, and that’s when we learned that she was studying at Alliance Français before she met Daniel, and she sent all of her children to the French International School nearby. 0_o

Now that’s something to consider if I were to have kids running around in my life in the future – having your kids learn a foreign language from young sounds infinitely useful.

lol! never mind, you’re gonna be done there soon, right?

yeah it’s almost rm8999 without discount, but if you present your student ID, you get like RM700 off if I’m not mistaken. hmm I see, but it’s still an expensive machine though, lol. would rather spend it on travelling or something =p
