Ka-chowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Cars. The trademark roaring noise made by Owen Wilson who voiced the main character Lightning McQueen.

At about 1.30pm, Andy picked me up from my house, we headed to Taipan where he had his lunch, then off we merrily went on our ways to Summit. Seems that we arrived at GSC just on time to find out that there were 5 minutes before the movie began (we didn’t check the times beforehand), so bought two adult tickets (will soon be in possession of a student card next week onwards) for RM7 each, and plonked ourselves in Hall 1.

Having read a newspaper article (interviews, etc) and watched several minutes worth of The Making of Cars, I had a certain degree of expectations on how it’ll turn out, and I’m quite satisfied with the outcome. Graphically superior with the fine details of every car models correctly designed in cartoonish CGI (if you’re a car geek, you’d recognise such intrinsic details, which [un]fortunately I’m not), Cars showcased a wide variety of various cars throughout the time.

Suffice to say it’s simply amazing how cars could be personified by the geniuses at Pixar, without making them look too proportionately out of shape. And the ‘wave’ made by the audience of the race using headlights was simply ingenious.

I understand that the Pixar guys took 5 years to design this movie.

The characters speak for themselves - the unique characteristics of each car (and the models of the car that come with it), especially the residents of Radiator Springs, where poor rookie racecar Lightning McQueen landed himself into when he got lost on the way to find the Interstate, were simply vehemently brilliant.

Especially good ol’ Italian Luigi and (Spanish?) Guido, the duo I absolutely adore.

I can’t say that the story is as exceptional as previous Pixar-produced movies, but it’s one heck of an animation, and a feel-good family movie. I prefer this way more than Over the Hedge, but that’s just me (partly because I’m sick of all the animated animals already).

I’ll give Cars an 8/10 rating.

Went out yesterday to Shawn’s house at night with Heng (long story of how he went to Shawn’s only to find it locked tight with no occupants and finally went to my house), after picking Ding up. Didn’t really watch the Serbia & Montenegro vs Holland match well, since I brought my laptop along and everyone’s slobbering over it. ;P (Not really, but mainly use it to surf using the wireless connection already available at Shawn’s.)

Heng went back at after midnight, but Andy, Ding and I stayed to watch Mexico vs Iran casually. Shawn’s cousin Wendy brought home three packs of maggi mee goreng which we lapped up hungrily, and then played a few rounds of mahjong.. till almost 3am.

Edit: Just finished watching the Japan vs Australia match, and. Wtf. 3 goals in 9 minutes by Australia in the very last minute. Wtf. Wtf. I suppose Japan lost their spirit after the second goal.. =____=

I supported Japan because:
- it’s one of the few Asian countries that got into the World Cup
- Hidetoshi Nakata and Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi

Was already beginning to imagine what the headlines are in the second half. Sigh. Sigh.

While I respect Cars as an animative work of art, the fact that its storlyine fails like every other childrens’ film drives me away from it.

Haha. Cars. Drive. See the funny I made? ♥
