haha that's good! i envy the fact that you have like-minded friends who love travelling too and COULD go with you.. it's hard to find people to travel with me - my backpacking partner is now studying piloting so it's incredibly hard to arrange a time. :/

ah I see.. well if you're working and stuff I'm sure every single day is too important to be 'wasted' on relaxing. :P i would to, in the future.

thanks! will write again such posts if i get to backpack/travel again in the future. =) no plans to Manila as of now or Yangon, but I'd LOVE to visit Yangon in the future. And actually.. North Korea. lol. but i wouldn't dare to visit these places alone, probably need at least one other fella to teman me.

Just Laos? It really depends on where you want to go in Laos since the country is actually quite large and we probably barely even scratched 1/4 of the country. :P But whatever you do, please go to Vang Vieng. Or even Nong Khiaw if you don't mind sacrificing some comfort for the BEST scenery ever (at night at least).

If you want to do up to Nong Khiaw, consider using at least 10 days? But of course I wouldn't know what you normally do when you travel around, so that's just an estimate based on what I'd do. :)

I'm quite glad that someone's actually interested to visit Laos since not many people I know would like to go there - so please visit it asap before that country gets too developed, although that's highly unlikely for now.

will take note of the ticket price from now on.

a week should be enough, sans the rest days? :)

i'm afraid i don't have the exact guesthouse address (heck, i don't even know if you'll be able to ask them where it is since they don't speak english), but the guesthouse that i stayed was BEFORE the bridge, and it seems to be the only guesthouse that's before the bridge (the ones after the bridge are a tad bit expensive, but obviously in better conditions).

and if i understand your question correctly, we didn't 'get' all of our guesthouse addresses. as you may have read, we simply walked around and surveyed for the cheapest price to stay.

i reckon for the entire fun in laos it cost us about rm1k or less (including plane tix). it's really cheap. but then again it's hard for me to count, since i went to thailand directly after laos, and our total expenditure was about rm2k for the 3 weeks+ we were in laos and thailand.

this is again of course depending on how you budget your trip, etc.
