Italy won the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
What a tremendously exciting match it was as I stayed up at Shawn’s place with Shawn, Heng, Ding, Andy, Jon and Shawn’s dad glued to the television. Both Italy and France played well, and for the first time in the 32 matches, the match felt like an absolute climax as there were plenty of what the commentators called as “high drama”.
Of course, my eyes could barely sustain itself as it kept shutting itself randomly and intermittently that at most I slept was between the 85th and 95th minute of the match.
Obviously there isn’t any point going on and on about the match since you would’ve watched it like any other like-minded people would, or caught it all on the news in the final free TheStar World Cup pullout today or on the Internet.

And how Zinedine Zidane head-butted Materazzi in the chest in the moment of fury was a huge shocker that belied his reserved apperance.. apparently it wasn’t the first time he head-butted someone (the previous time was a headbutt to SV Hamburg’s Jochen Kientz). An end to his international football career with a red card is something any football legend wouldn’t ask for.. although with that crazed action, even though he might be incited to do so, he probably just asked for it. -__-
Funny how the commentators were going, “That action will certainly make him miss out on the Golden Ball award” resulted in quite the contrary.
Again it’s probably one of the best football matches I’ve ever watched, this coming from a casual football fan. :)
I drove back home at nearly 5am and had to wake up 2 hours 40 minutes later. My eyebag probably sagged and made me look like an impatient, sleepy panda and I had to attend two classes in all which was pretty alright, since they weren’t heavy subjects like accounting.
I slept from 2pm till 7 the moment I reached home, and even the alarm I set on my handphone for an hour later didn’t rouse me one bit. :(
And I’ve uploaded that silly You Are My Sonia song into my musicbox (you probably need to clear your browser’s cache and refresh to see it appearing in the musicbox’s list) which was pretty interesting to listen to.. maybe your typical Indian songs but it sounded pretty rad and addictive. <_<
There are times that I wonder whether it’s worth it for some people to strain relationships just for their inexplicable and irrational extreme seriousness on football when it’s simply a game like any other, or whether it’s ridiculous for me to take to heart to what people blurt out thoughtlessly without meaning what they say.
