Macau Day 1: LCCT and Netbooks

I’m currently at LCCT’s terminal, tremendously aware that there’s a surge in passengers who brought along their laptops and netbooks – netbooks, especially. I’ve never actually seen an actual netbook in real life apart from pictures displayed in newspapers and the Internet, but they are actually small.. nearly half the size of my own current 3 or 4-year old Dell Inspiron 6400.

I was actually pondering whether bringing a netbook to my New Zealand trip would be a burden or not, after seeing an angmoh hammering away on his netbook placed neatly on his lap near the duty free shop. But I suppose not – the weight and size is minimal and I could probably fit in very comfortably into any bag I bring along.

I’m also currently sitting at a bordered corner of the terminal, for gates T7 and T8 where the seats are marginally better and comfortable (leather and stainless steel) compared to the cheap plastic ones outside this bordered section. I’m guessing this could be a premium lounge in the past or something.. there was even a machine that could spout drinking water but it wasn’t even a surprise that as I went to try it out to quench this sudden surging thirst, it was out of order..

As we were queuing up earlier to check in, I was approached by this 40 or 50-something lady who asked if that counter was for AK54, and because I wasn’t entirely involved in the whole holiday planning process apart from purchasing airplane tix for the family, I told her that I only knew that it’s for the 1.30pm flight. Later on my parents made small talk to her and then discovered that her flight was initially the morning one which was then later cancelled – similar to Ding’s. She wasn’t aware that you could change the tickets to another date or even claim a refund (neither did I initially anyway) as it wasn’t their fault that the flight was cancelled.

Initially she was supposed to go with her husband, but her husband could not make it due to the change in flight and therefore, she had to purchase another ticket for her son (who is in his last year in Australia studying medicine..who let’s just say had somewhat metrosexual tastes and love sketching) as AirAsia’s policy is such that you couldn’t change names on the tickets.. she had to pay a full RM800+ wtf. We discovered later on when my parents met her at the duty free shop about 20 minutes ago that the counter lady asked “Eh where’s your husband?” and when told what happened, the counter lady told her that she could claim refund for their mistake.

OH and I forgot to bring my thumbdrive containing certain WiFi tools mentioned in the previous post.. wtf. -____- Andy some more came to my house earlier this morning at about 7.20am just to pass it to me before he went to college as I told him I needed my thumbdrive lol (and I also had to ask him for his help to pay my college fees due next Monday, when I would only be back at night). And there were many potential WiFi access points here at LCCT.. shitla wasted.

Probably 5-10 minutes more before I board the flight. Here I come, Macau & Hong Kong.
