I don’t know when, but I’ve been mildly pestering Chris to meet up ever since I knew he was returning to Malaysia from glorious UK for summer holidays. I don’t normally meet up with bloggers in general or random strangers as my social intellect’s the size of a peanut, though I suppose that’s set to change. And though we don’t chat that often online either, off and on when we do we’d insult each other and strike it really close like long lost buddies.
So on Thursday at 10.30am I flew to BU6, regrettably I must admit that even after taking the same shortcut to 1Utama for a few times now, I actually forgot to take a left turn to reach the toll and had to waste solid 10 minutes backtracking entirely.
When I finally did reach his house, his gate was wide open and I trod in gingerly, saying hi to his pet dog and kakak who led me to his room, which he had been boasting about and was very proud of (“I’ve been cleaning it to prepare for your visit” wtf).

Just a corner of his comfortably-sized room (he was working on his Malaysian Leaders Student Summit thingy which he had a large hand in organising) – frankly a dream sorta room for me with the amount of geeky IT equipments and tools congregating within the comforts of four walls which you can call your own personal space. Like, you can plug in some wires from the TV to his laptop and you can watch downloaded movies (his was mostly anime) straight from the telly wtf wtf. And 8 different speakers wtf. And an iPod video wtf. And a DS Lite WTF gadget freak heaven wei.
So we sat there chatting away, played on his PS2, and when I complained of hunger he gave me some of the morning breakfast’s leftover which his grandma cooked wtf. Some mee I don’t know the name of, and the most delicious homemade sambal ever made that just danced over your tastebuds – this coming from a person who sweats a litre the moment spicy food enters his mouth.
3 hours breezed by quickly – we glossed through the 398-people manifest (where I found out Su Ann was going) of the upcoming event this weekend where most of them are from prestigious universities like Harvard and Oxford, and possessed impressive accolades like passing Mensa and winning the inaugural IMPAC Writing competition; taught his sister how to spell ‘separate’ on a DS game; and played with his cute little dog who was amazingly attracted to me that he attempted to hump me multiple times (“first time he gets so acquainted with a stranger” wtf).

GUESS THE DOG’S NAME!!! And I thought my rabbit Bunny was creative enough.. Chris called his pet dog ‘Dog’ wtfff. =.=” Supposedly has some other name but he stuck with his choice.

Then at close to 2.30pm, we headed out to Centrepoint which was my first time there. Ate at Black Canyon where I found out they have a branch at The Summit.

Chris toying with his Lumix.

Insane quality lah his Lumix, very wide angle thanks to his add-on lens.

Wtf I can never take such photos – my food photography sucks frankly, and this seriously is one of the best food pics out there. This is our appetizer which costs more than our own individual main course wtf (RM15).

Chris’ rice with peanuts. I like the dressing.

My rice omelette thingy, which tasted rather good.

Asked the servers to help us snap this photo, in which I look very awkward. Chris had to rush off to KL at 3pm plus which his dad fetched him to.
Overall ‘twas a pretty interesting meet for two supposedly ‘shy’ people, tied together by several common interests. I think it’s true what he mentioned, that once you actually meet your online friends, you’re likely to remain real friends with them.. giving the amount of nonsense we talked in the short span of time, I’d say we would. :D
Like Chris carefully observed, it was highly unusual to be meeting someone for the first time right in his own house and room, not to mention eating his grandma’s cooking wtf. Though frankly I didn’t find it the least bit odd.. am just very trusting by nature. :p
