I had 4 hours of sleep thanks to my alertness past 1am and finally slept at 2am. My previous entry states the reason why.
Was rather sleepy when I reached school, and thought the stupid Merdeka closing ceremony would be a quick karaoke session. As always, never underestimate your school’s ability to fucking bore you in every way. :)
First, there were speeches. I know every school must’ve done this every fucking time during Teachers’ Day and whatever official-sounding days in existence, so why must 16th September be an exception? I don’t understand the point of reading these long, drawling speeches talking about the same old fucking thing about “bebas daripada penjajahan”, “kita kini merdeka, hargailah sebaik-baiknya” and a billion other terms you use for Independence.
Mr Victor began his speech and I bet 90% of all teachers and students didn’t listen at all. Come Pn Sharifah’s turn, she bleated sheepishly at every boring point of her talk asking us to keep quiet and listen to her grandest speech of the millenia. And best of all? She ended her speech correctly by saying, “Merdekeh. Merdekeh. Merdekeh” in the most uninterested manner possible that one wonders why she even teach BM in the first place. I’m talking about how she pronounced the word “Merdeka”, which was so completely wrong that I’m sure Pn Zainab and all BM teachers alike must’ve cried in their hearts the day Bahasa Melayu was infected with cancer. Today.
And the speech we’ve been waiting for… Kak Ruby! She took a stride to the podium and began her speech by scolding everyone. A quarter through her speech from someone with a very long title, she walked towards a particular female student and pondered why students are talking when an elderly person is talking. Takde respectlah you all. Yeah right, if only she turned behind and look at her staffs talking among themselves, probably wondering when they can overthrow her and fight, bicker and bitch-fight for the Principal position. Whoa, imagine that wouldja?
Then the Eye of the Sky began staring hard on our school, sending rays of unwarranted heat that we had to shift places. After an initial start of karaoke, and made to sit down, I slept lying on the grass with head on the bags since I was sleepy and bored, and one’s logical choice of action is to sleep. At this point, I’ve no idea what happened but I think teachers were making stupid quizzes with cheap 50 sen pencils as prizes, and more speeches or something.
Fast forward everything, it ended about 2 hours and 30 minutes later. After checking out my dismal Biology marks and outstanding Physics marks for structure Paper II (history repeats itself, again), I went with Shawn, Jon and Heng to the computer lab for some school magazine session. Not much work, more like chatting mindlessly and shivering to death.
Sat in Tien Tien Fatt with Shawn and Heng for a bit, then went home. Pretty much a day wasted.
Edit: Was having stomach discomfort throughout the day and diarrhoea-like symptoms. Didn’t give much thought about it, since I didn’t think I consume any bad food until it dawned upon me I consumed tons of white chocolate yesterday.
Put two and two together, and there you have it, a lactose intolerant person. And this is a very interesting fact: a research at wikipedia shows that being lactose tolerant is a genetic mutation while being lactose intolerant is actually normal, since production of the enzyme lactase will decrease as you grow older. However, since the mutation is found in vast proportions throughout the world, lactose intolerance is now considered as a medical condition. And I can’t find any frigging treatments available in that page save for “avoiding lactose products”. Nooo my chocolates! And ice-creams!
