20 Jun 2006 3:34 pmSecond day in the life of being a Metro student introduced us to the harsh facts that studying in a high school and studying in a college/university are two completely different entities.. we even had an optional note-taking class delivered by our Human Communications course lecturer since it appears that most high school leavers have a hard time or simply do not know how to take down notes considering how we were all spoonfed.
Interestingly, our first Introduction to Accounting class, something I’m not sure I’d look forward to, ended 30 minutes after it started at 8am instead of the two hours it was meant to take.. since the real thing begins next week and we had yet to get our books, know where we will be placed in our tutorial groups, etc.
So it was raining rather heavily in the morning and Andy and I huddled under a single umbrella walking when we first arrived at our parking lot (and spotted Ding and Kai Shen), walked to Asia Cafe during our Accounting break where Andy ate his breakfast/lunch (Sarah, Jean Hwei, Geok Leng and a few of their coursemates came along shortly after), and off we went to our Human Comm class conducted by a Ms Malini.
I think I need to adjust my entire life as well, to suit the one at college since apparently I can’t afford to be sleepy when lectures are conducted or else miss what they teach and find it difficult to catch up later (what I did in high school was ignoring Pn Azila – Chem teacher – completely and studied on my own with no tuition classes with the help of the study groups my friends and I organised.. and rewarded with an A2 in my SPM woot).
Both Goh and I didn’t actually ventured out to make new friends; we both thought that when we were finally separated into our tutorial groups, it would be easier to get to know each other better. What we saw was people randomly turning around and shaking hands and introduced names and made small chat and that was about it. By doing that today, we both got to know a Keith, Kelvin and an Indian dude Justin.
Huhu.
I’m tempted to bring my laptop along during lectures and stuff (an idea presented in this note-taking notes we got from the lecturer) since I type faster than I write, and will make note-taking all the more neater, cleaner and faster (plus wheee can print in my college using the RM15 credit we will be given monthly, not sure we have to pay or not). But see, if I’m the only one doing that, it’s likely I’ll be getting unwanted attention and hushed whispers about what a stuck-up braggart I am which is a bad start to starting my education life anew at tertiary level.
How lehhh you tell me. Maybe writing would be better off?
After our sole note-taking class ended at about 12pm plus, we went off to Summit to collect Andy’s repaired cellphone and I ate my lunch at McD’s. After Andy purchased several DVDs for his entertainment at home, we went back at about 2pm.

After a bout of googling, I found this picture:
The MPH Search for Young Malaysian Writers 2006 competition is now up, with a theme I’ve no idea what to write on at the moment. Don’t know if I’ll be joining it yet, depending on the number of assignments levelled to us in the very near future. -__-
