Model Shoot: Evon & Sara in KL

So I went to SJMC with my mum and youngest bro yesterday morning for a 9am appointment to get myself checked out. I initially thought that my gastroenterologist will order an endoscope to be done on me but that turns out to be the extreme point of things where my case is concerned – so he had me do blood and stool tests and apparently we’ll get most of the results very quickly about an hour later (gone were the days when you have to return a few days later).

I must congratulate myself for not freaking out on hearing that I have to do a blood test because about a decade ago I’ll bawl my eyes out and would rather die than have a needle stuck into me. Or I must’ve gotten quite used to it wtf (I voluntarily asked for a flu vaccine last November before I went on my Laos/Thailand backpacking trip) or I knew it wasn’t that painful after all.

That said, I can never look at this little demon in the eye – I always had to look away or close my eyes when the needle was injected into me. This blood test also took quite a while for some reason and I realised why it was, because it was drawing quite a lot of blood from me (enough to fill in two test tubes to the brim wtf) and I didn’t even realise that it was over, and the doctor/lab assistant had to ask me to unclench my hand.

Easily done. What’s next?

WARNING: DO NOT READ IF YOU’RE EASILY DISGUSTED OR ARE INGESTING SOME FOOD.

A stool test.

I was naive enough to think that the doc would extract it from my butt or something, and even so I wouldn’t have minded a very violated butt. When I realise that I actually have to, erm, you know, without having to go into precise details that I have to excrete and scoop up samples of the excreta to be placed into a test tube all by myself WTF, I was more taken aback about this than realising I was going to have a needle poked into my arm.

I know it’s just my own shit and all but:
1) I had a bad case of diarrhoea earlier that morning so I’d hazard a guess that it’s going to be a watery business WTF, and
2) I have never in my life been placed in a situation where I’m going to look at my own dung in the eye for more than 2 seconds – back when shit was always meant to remain in the toilet bowl, I’d do a quick glance to see if there’s blood or not even look at it.

Since I had pretty much emptied my bowels earlier that morning, I had to first eat my breakfast at the overpriced SJMC cafeteria (didn’t eat at home ‘cause I was fasting in preparation for an endoscope) and a few minutes later, go to the loo with a few apparatuses to assist in my preparation of a stool test.

Fortunately for you guys I’ll spare you the details but I can safely say that staring at my own shit (which wasn’t watery thank god) for more than 5 seconds evoked a vomit reflex and this is going to sound a little disturbing, but my stools reminded me of jam.

I can never understand why there are people in this world who are into scat – look it up under Google Images if you’re curious what that is WTF.

Then I had to go all the way to the 5th floor where the laboratory is and leave the sample with them.

Long story short, my tests turned out pretty fine – the blood test revealed that my kidneys and liver were fine (although my white blood cell count was a little higher, which could be triggered by anything so my doctor wouldn’t be that concerned), I wasn’t anaemic, and there weren’t any parasites in my stool. Then they’re going to culture my stool wtf to see if there are any bacteria or something and the results for that particular test would only be out this Thursday.

I actually feel much better now – could be something I’ve eaten (or drank) again. :/

But that wasn’t the main point of this entry – here’s the continuation of the photo shoot (in which I paid RM60 to participate, but it was worth it imo) of Evon Tan and Sara Ayumi, and I’ve tried my best to narrow down the selection of pictures from about 650 photos. I also deliberately took the entire day today to re-organise and post-process my pictures – a very poor workflow that cost me my entire Tuesday. =.=”

Please be forewarned that there are 45 images below, and I highly recommend that you visit other websites instead and do other things while the images load.

#1 Evon and lion statue

#2 At temple entrance

#3 At wet market

#4 Smiling Evon

#5 Said wet market

#6 Downcast Sara

#7 Contemplative Sara

#8 Thinking Sara

#9 Looking at me

#10 Contemplative Sara 2

#11 At the side entrance of a bookstore

#12 Full body shot Evon

At this point lemme just add that throughout the photo shoot I was constantly changing my lenses to get a different perspective and it gets pretty annoying, not to mention a little tedious.

#13 Face-and-shoulder shot Evon

#14 I was on my knees

#15 Seductive Evon

#16 Easily one of my favourite pics – this was semi-candid: the pose was directed, the laugh was not

#17 Face shot Evon

#18 Fellow photographers were jostling to snap this so I didn’t have a very good angle.

#19 Taking a break

#20 The top of the Indian temple with a lamp sticking out

#21 Sara with a flower given by the stall owner

#22 Evon with flower

#23 Sara at walkway

#24 Candid of our shoot

#25 Evon behind door

#26 Evon at barber’s

#27 Evon at barber’s 2

#28 Contemplative Evon

#29 Evon at Kedai Gunting Rambut Stylo

#30 Curious Evon

#31 Not a good shot ‘cause I only have a few pics of these while all of us were quickly trying to shoot this – but this is Evon with random makcik who came out from the barber’s saying, “Amboi! Terkangkang kaki!” on seeing Evon striking a pose.

#32 I love this shot – her pose and this angle (pardon the chopped hand – a 50mm f/1.8 could only let me back up so far) reminds me of some fashion spread in a magazine wtf.

#33 Evon at bus steps. (There was also a pondan and some Malay dudes who were staring intently at us, and the pondan went as far as to ask us to shoot him wtf.)

#34 Not the greatest composition (cue jostling photographers reason) but just want to let you guys see Evon and the bus.

#35 Evon and graffiti.

#36 Crying-in-the-shower-alone look Evon

#37 Evon and a Honda.

#38 Evon near a main street.

#39 Free-spirited Evon

#40 Sara on a bridge

#41 Sara with tame cat

#42 Tame cat – also regretting the fact I can’t snap similar shots of Bunny anymore. :(

#43 Evon the singer (we got permission from the performers to do a quick shooting on their stage at Central Market)

#44 Evon in yellow scarf. We had already finished our shoot and gathered at the Pasar Seni carpark, and while waiting for the rest, Evon posed for those who were there.

#45 Evon in red scarf. This was literally the second last shot before my memory card reads, “CARD FULL”.

No prizes if you can guess who my favourite model was. :P (Didn’t like the other model’s poses and facial expressions that much.) I also welcome all comments/criticisms and would love to hear which shots you like the most.

Great job! Love seeing all the pictures you took, especially the 2nd photo and the photos where you started changing your lenses. I’d love to join such a shoot one day for RM60. If only my girlfriend is cooperative enough with me. lol

Gravatar

woot, it’s a far cry from when we were talking about getting DSLRs! way to go sir :D

Gravatar

btw please don’t post more than 10 pictures in a single post in the future :S Maybe you can split it up into parts. Just a suggestion :)

Gravatar

raymond: thanks! =) i was actually unsure how to go by it at first, whether to keep on using one lens but i realise that angle, space, other photographers etc are the few factors that encourage me to keep switching lenses because i couldn’t get the shots i wanted.

it was actually half a day for rm60 but really it wasn’t too bad (esp for a total newbie like me). i get one model that i really love shooting. :D

lol is your gf camera-shy? well.. bribe her by taking her out for dinners or something, i’m sure she’ll cooperate. :P

i know it’s tough for people on a slow connection to load my entries when i post nearly 50 pics at one go (my previous travel entries are testament to this).. but i try not to split posts because i kinda prefer and am too used to this.. ‘blog-flow’ for the lack of a better word. =p

chris: yeah there’s a huge difference between PnS’s and DSLRs after all. thanks! =D

Gravatar

Haha she’s not camera-shy, just doesn’t have the patience that models have. After all, it’s models’ job to stand and pose. I think changing lenses is a must for us with only one body because I’m sure professionals use more than one at a time with different lenses to capture different styles.

Oh don’t worry after midnight my connection will be restored to its proper speed. But 45 pictures in a post (!!!!). lol

Gravatar

ah yeah the patience. come to think of it, both of the models have a lot of patience to pose appropriately for us.. but then again they DO receive a nice sum for their trouble.

i thought that pro photographers who have more than one body was just a joke until i realise that it’s actually true.. >___> freaking hell.

oh i’ve actually posted 60 pics or so in an entry a few times already. so having 45 pics is actually slightly mild. :P
