My most expensive purchase in history.

One of the reasons I’ve yet to mention why I’m so incredulously happy these days is the fact that I’m getting my very own laptop soon, a Dell Inspiron 6400.

I know, I know, I mentioned before that I’ll be getting one by the end of July or August, ‘cause I’ve transferred most of my savings into fixed deposit which is due to expire early next month. But then again, these kinda promotions where you’re given a free 1GB RAM upgrade and a free delivery combo don’t come by very often, so I’ve decided to screw that extra measly RM20 plus or so I’ll be getting as a result from FD, and get the laptop instead. :D

I have been offered its services for months daily via newspaper advertisements, tempted by its rather cheap price, and I’m finally seduced by its rare cheap-o promotions.

Huzzah, this will be my most expensive purchase yet with my own money, after the DS + pirated kit which should cost about RM1000. And no, I do not have a rich boyfriend (Ding’s father wtf ), nor a sugar mummy. >_____>

Originally priced at RM3,199, after customizing it and added more and more glorious, glorious parts, I arrived at RM4,144, not including the D-Link DL-524 wireless router I’m getting from Jon for RM235. Finally ordered my laptop online right after lunch. :D

My baby is due to arrive in 5-7 working days, so hopefully I’ll be there to receive its anticipated birth in all its beauty. She is oh-so-pretty-ful.

Specs of my baby which I have yet to name:

- Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2300 (1.66 GHz, 2MB Cache, 667 MHz FSB)

- Dell™ Wireless 350 Bluetooth Module [RM52 for this, since I have a Bluetooth-enabled handphone and it’ll be easier to transfer stuffs, etc]

- Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition (English) [I’m gonna reformat it and install un-genuine Windows XP Professional instead since the genuine version of Professional costs RM222 ;P]

- Dell™ Large Backpack [an additional RM133 for easy-carrying and peace of mind]

- 1-Year Limited Warranty (Next Business Day On-site Service – parts & labour)

- 15.4” Wide Screen XGA TFT Display with Truelife™: 1280×800 [added RM56 for the Truelife which supposedly has anti-glare, etc, which basically makes viewing photos and videos better]

- 1024MB (1 X 1024MB) DDR2 SDRAM [I suppose the free 1GB RAM upgrade is kinda forfeited, since their free 1GB of RAM consists of two 512MB memory modules, and I’m paying an additional RM74 for ease of mind should I want to upgrade my RAM in the future]

- 80GB SATA Hard Drive [upgraded from 60GB for only RM59]

- Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Combination Drive with dual layer write capabilities [additional RM110 to get this DVD burner, woot]

- 256MB ATI Mobility™ Radeon® X1400 Hypermemory [costs RM351 to get this medium-end graphics card, woot]

- 9-cell 85Whr Lithium Ion Primary Battery [additional RM92 from a 6-cell battery so that it lasts an hour or more longer]

- 90W Primary AC Adapter (110V/220V) [only an additional RM18 from a regular 65W AC Adapter, since it charges the laptop faster and will be compatible with electrical sockets in foreign countries, should I travel abroad in the future]

Suggestions of names for my soon-to-come newborn baby is much appreciated.
