Project 365 #74: Tuesday, 28th April 2009

At Asia Cafe with Kai Tzin and Andy. Had a quick plan with Kai the day before for a dinner meet-up, then we asked Andy to come along. Both Andy and I stayed back in college till about 7.15pm (my final IFP lecture ended at 6pm+), then when Kai rang me up, I met up with Andy and we walked together to Asia Cafe.

Bah this pic looks rather unsightly with the head-on flash from my compact camera, this dish might not look like it but it really is one of the best meals in Asia Cafe – Bob’s Taiwanese Fried Chicken with Sesame Rice! Scrumptious chicken, when eaten with the sesame rice, exudes a very heavenly refined taste – all for RM5.80.

So we talked. A lot. Mostly things I wanted feedback on, as does Kai, and we only left the place at nearly 10pm, which chalked up our time there to nearly 3 hours. Andy then drove me back to my house, and he stayed for a while to copy some files.

A series of graphic novels that I’ve gotten really hooked on to recently – Preacher – thanks to the recommendation from Barry. It’s my basket of entertainment when I’m waiting for the next episode of Heroes or Lost or How I Met Your Mother to be released, and at one point yesterday night, I was really drawn to the tale that I read a few volumes of Preacher in one go till 3am.

In short, this Preacher graphic novel tells of one reverend who questioned God’s existence, and one fine day, while preaching to nearly the entire Texan town’s residents in his church, he was attacked and assimilated with Genesis, a being resulting from the unholy coupling between an angel and a demon whose powers is said to rival or even surpass that of God’s. It was then this Preacher’s quest to look for God literally when He left the heavens. And I think I barely scratched the surface of the tale by this miserable as-spoilers-free-as-possible synopsis – it’s a definite page-turner and I highly recommend it to everyone.

After my final Law of Investment tutorial class today at about 2.30pm, I went to the library with my laptop – to both study and download stuffs at the same time.

If there’s one thing I’m really amazed with myself, it’s the fact that I place tremendous faith and trust in my fellow collegemates whom I don’t know at all – this isn’t the first time, but earlier I had to go to the toilet, and as I was alone with my laptop, I left it turned on on the table and went out of the library to head towards the gents, and then came back to the library and saw that my laptop was relatively untouched. Each time I do this leaving-my-laptop-unguarded act, I half-expect my laptop to be gone whenever I return from wherever I was going to, but each time, my blind faith and trust in the students of Metropolitan College strengthened.

Call me naive, but if there’s one double-edged quality about me that comes to me rather naturally, it’s how easily trust comes to me even with relative strangers. But ‘course, I’m not entirely stupid – my incredible leap of faith with leaving my laptop unattended comes with a quick assessment of the situation and the surrounding. :)

That, or nobody wants to steal a 3-year-old Dell Inspiron 6400 with nasty, dirty-looking sweat marks that looked as if the Queen of Germs bred like bunnies all over a large part of my laptop.
