Holy fuck.

I got an e-mail reply from the Editor. I don’t really know whether I’m accepted or not since he/she didn’t explicitly say so, but it sounds like a yes. If you have Gmail Notifier, you’ll know what it does—that thingy that resides on the bottom-right tray popped up with NEW MESSAGE with about first 10 words of the message. Adrenaline pumped my heart, and I almost expected a rejection letter.

And I’m awake as ever now at 1am.

HOLY UT#@&$@)#

Hi Clement,

I’ve seen your FAQs and I can tell that you’re an experienced FAQ writer. I myself have written a couple FAQs, so I can relate the time and dedication needed to put together a FAQ.

My Chief Editor is very interested to see a Maple Story writeup from you. Since this will be an introductory issue, I suggest writing a 5-6 page on an introductory guide for Maple Story, especially a section for creating one’s character (e.g., recommendations and tips for creating Thiefs and which skills to concentrate on). However, if you have a better suggestion as to what to be included in the guide, please feel free to tell us.

I’ve uploaded a sample article and PDF file that we had recently published in our last issue of Game! Strategi. While the article is mainly in Malay, I’ve included a short guide at the end of the article in English as reference as to how we normally write the article and present them to our artist editors.

One point that I forgot to mention in the article guide is that the total amount of pages that you use to write in the recommended format (Arial Narrow size 9) will be roughly reflected in the magazine.

For instance, if you write 5 pages in Word, the article should be about 5 pages long in the magazine. If we request that you write a 6 page article but you only write 5 or 5.5 pages, that’s still okay as our art editors can still adjust it and pad it out with images and screenshots. However, if you write a 7 or 8 page article, then it becomes much harder to squeeze it into a 6 page format for the magazine and some
paragraphs/words/sections might need to be removed.

At the moment, we don’t have a set due date for the article submissions as we’re busy with some stuff, such as this weekend’s WCG and office relocation. I understand that you’ll be busy with your exams soon, so no rush. Take your time to study the sample guide that I’ve made and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Once things settle around here, then I’ll update you on more details.
