Screw specs

I’ve always regarded spectacles as an inconvenience, besides making you look geekier than you appear to be, it has a probability of being destroyed into miserable minion pieces.

Today, while bballing in school, I put aside my spectacles as I fear it may be damaged if I wear ‘em while playing it. It may be my mistake, or probably some unholy hatred from high above, but SOMEONE either stepped on it with crushing force or a stray basketball smashed it. Smashed the left frameless lens.

I can’t recount the countless times my pair of spectacles have been damaged in one way or the other. Or accidents that involve spectacles – so much so I think I should deserve to be driving on my own since my accidents always, ALWAYS involve spectacles, including losing other people’s. You know, I think this final incident proved that spectacles are a bane in my life.

Among the accidents that involve spectacles I can remember:

- While playing football, Adib inadvertently kicked a football right at my face. Apart from a smashed spectacles, I also had a huge black eye that looked as if I had been fighting with a 200-pound wrestler.
- Ryui Bynn accidentally kicked the ball at my face while trying to pass.
- Shawn who did some very clever skill, and cleverly kicked the ball right into my face. Again. Refused to pay up.
- Me losing Heng Li’s specs. Stupid bastard who took it.
- Me losing Nirshan’s sunglasses during CYA’s grand dinner earlier this year.

The last straw is today. Screw it - I’m getting contact lenses instead, even though I don’t know anything about wearing it, cleaning it, etc.
