Project 365 #90: Friday, 15th May 2009

I went to get a haircut on my way out to college at about 2.30pm or so. Decisions, decisions – apparently iCube has closed down, the hair salon I always go to near the USJ 8 bus hub, so with that out of the picture, I’ve got to find a hair salon where I can call it my new hairstyling home. I just randomly picked one located near Khalifah USJ 8 – don’t remember the name – I first enquired the price using English, but realising that the middle-aged woman couldn’t understand me, I spoke in halting Cantonese instead.

RM18. I told her what I wanted, she gave me a few suggestions to which I acquiesced – and the end results were way better than I had expected. :D Happy number 1.

My college library has now a chic glass table – apparently carried up the stairs by The Bald Dude hahahaha.

Kenneth also gave me this uber PVC string thingy to be used for my hippo tooth – the current plain ol’ black string I was using faithfully for years doesn’t really look that good. Happy number 2. :D

Didn’t actually study much – I went online instead, took a nap, read some old copies of Personal Money, and then went out in two cars (mine and James’, even though there were only 5 of us, ‘cause both James and I wanted to move our cars out of SS14 and into the college parking compound). We ate at SS15’s Foh Foh for dinner – my Taiwanese Beef Noodles were something different but otherwise slightly pricey at RM5.50 with too much noodles to be honest – then after fetching Khai Shin back to her rented house, I went back to college briefly, fetched Kenneth back home, then went back to my own home myself.

Not a very good angle but who says trying to camwhore with a 2kg machine is easy?

New haircut! I was also told again by my hairstylist to use wax to style my hair ‘cause apparently my new hairstyle’s designed that way. >_> I asked her which brand of wax she used and she showed me (no clue what it is ‘cause it looked pretty generic), and she told me I could buy it for only RM20 – almost tempted to get it there and then, ‘cause the one I’m using at home seems sorta sucky.

Friends bailed out on me at the last minute for an outing the next day. Sad number 1. :(

Project 365 #91: Saturday, 16th May 2009

Introduction to Financial Planning exam from 9.15am (including 15 minutes reading time) till 12.30pm. I think I did decently in it – managed to put in extra information that I remembered from googling stuffs the night before (like how Argentina defaulted on Government Bonds in 2001).

Read Andy’s SMS after the exam that he could come with me to KLCC, but it was a tad bit late as I was already going with my family there then. :/

We went there by car, went to the cinema, and when at 3pm sharp no one was there, we walked around for about 15 minutes before returning there and managed to get 5 tickets for free for the 4.30pm show! We then returned at 4.30pm-ish, saw Peter Davis and some of the casts there, bought the soundtrack for RM30, chatted with Jerrica Lai briefly and asked her for her autograph but she urged us to go to the cinema instead as we were somewhat late by 10 minutes.

Sell Out! was still interesting even on my 2nd watch, although we missed the first 10 minutes or so of the film. Jerrica was around in the cinema hall right after the flick (after a round of applause when the film ends) to tell us that they were going to adjourn to Chilli’s – in fact, when we went to Chilli’s, Jerrica asked Peter Davis and some other dudes to move to another table to accommodate us wtf.

And copy+pasted from a topic I started on KGB:

Today, I went to meet the cast of Sell Out! (a Malaysian musical comedy) at a local shopping mall. I took out my DSLR to snap pics with one of the casts, only to find out that I left my memory card connected to my laptop at home. So I tried desperately to see if my cam has a function that enables me to snap without a memory card ‘cause I thought my DSLR has some internal memory. Changed the setting that overrides the snap-with-memory-card function, snapped the pic with Jerrica Lai, blabla went back home. It was then I realised that there was no pic in my cam, and I had my other compact camera in my pocket all along. FML.

I also bought Market Panic – Wild Gyrations, Risks and Opportunities in Stock Markets by Stephen Vines at Kinokuniya, the original price’s RM71.80 but I got a 20% discount simply by purchasing a RM0.80 Kilometrico blue pen lol. I’ve always thought that business-related books are just for the businessmen, the entrepreneurs, or the CEOs or something – but my perception’s slowly changing, and for the first time in my life, I’m actually purchasing a non-fiction book from a bookstore, and one related to stock markets and the recent 2008 market panic. I read through the preface, and found it interesting enough to want to read more, hence the purchase.

Oh and about 15 minutes before the movie begin, there was a SPR (Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya) voter’s registration exercise held opposite Burger King – dad asked me to come down from Kinokuniya to register, and so I did. What most amused me was the Chinese couple in their 30s sitting next to me, when asked what their religion is (to fill in in the form), the man said, “Agama Buddha lah, negara ni mana boleh takde agama, mesti kena tangkap”. WTF.

Something about that logic or what they were basing upon to arrive on that extremely misguided conclusion is terribly mind-boggling. The husband went on to say that “orang yang takde agama tu mesti orang komunis”.

When the lady, who was handling my form, asked me if I was Buddhist (probably because I had that orange string tied around my wrist as my mum insisted), I said a tad bit loudly, “Freethinker” for the benefit of my misguided fellow human beings. She promptly wrote down “Tiada ugama”, and now I’ve got to wait for 3 months before my name appears in the voters’ list, or something.

I s’pose the good news is, I’ve signed autographs by Jerrica and Peter (yeah, we’re on first name terms now wtf hahaha no not really; dad also insisted to get the latter’s signature too wtf 0_o), although I think Jerrica did manage to snap my CD casing lol. Happy number 3. :D

Hi Clement, how come you didn’t ask me to sign? haha. Sorry, man. I didn’t know you were around today until Jerrica told me. But before I could go say hi, you’d left already. Thanks for coming! Hope to catch you some other time and place :D – joon han
