SMK Seafield’s Canteen Day

On Saturday night at about 8.30pm, as parents were out in Seremban for dinner leaving me to go out on a gourmet-scouring rampage with Esther and Jess, we ended up in SS15 looking for the cheap-o RM5 carbonara that Suet mentioned.

We spotted this odd-looking car which was at the same spot for years, supposedly own by one of Inti’s lecturers.

After recalling briefly that it was opposite TBS, we walked at the row for a while and on our second stop to another restaurant, we found that the carbonara sold was only RM6, and that should be it.

It was quite an alright place with a decent cafe atmosphere and all. Despite the “Malaysian Chef” name, it has Western food like spaghetti etc, but when the food arrived we discovered that the cafe has Malaysianised the various food served to us with its own unique ingredients and properties.

This is my spaghetti bolognese at only RM6.

Quite decent food at quite a decent price, and the fairly large apple juice I had was only RM3 as well, almost similar to Asia Cafe’s prices.

After finishing our food at 10pm plus, I picked up Ding and Wai Hong to go to Shawn’s house to watch football, after a quick change to plans of watching at Jess’ house as Shawn’s mum barred him from going out.

Expecting myself to only watch England vs Portugal seems to be a ridiculous notion, because that wasn’t exactly all that I watched. Both teams played at equal levels and were terribly dull and boring that they ended at 0-0 even after extra time.

Rooney stepping on Ricardo Carvalho’s groin with his boot (ouchouch) (Ricardo, what are you doing sniffing his butt??), followed by shoving Cristiano Ronaldo in front of the referee earned him an instant red card, faster than cooking a mee-in-a-cup.

About the only mildly interesting thing that happened (other than the incident above) was David Beckham’s injury which forced him to leave the field for the benches, and he was seen crying @_@, probably due to him feeling guilty for not performing well for the team, which explained his resignation as England’s captain in a tearful press conference after the match.

The entire match ended with Portugal winning 3-1 on penalties (yay) at almost 2am. I went back to my house to drop off my car while Shawn picked me up (after dropping off Esther and Jess) to watch Brazil vs France with the rest at Syed Ariff, after a short persuasion for me to stay overnight at his house.

Suffice to say I couldn’t stand not sleeping and find myself yawning in the largely similar possession of the ball between France and Brazil in the first half. Andy went off after a short while, while Daniel, WH and Heng who were gonna stay overnight at Shawn’s as well stayed on.

On the second half we went back to Shawn’s to watch which was when the source of our yawns dissipated -- Shawn’s house seemed to be the best spot to watch football matches, air-con and all.

Staying up incredibly late till 5am plus just to watch France triumphing over world champions Brazil at 1-0 is a disappointment indeed. Brazil simply wasn’t playing on par, not on their maximum form.

Some of us (me, WH, Ding) slept on the air-pumped mattress in the living room which was quite comfortable. I woke up at about 10am to the jumps and bouncing on the mattress by the rest, and apparently they woke up at 8am. =___=

After the rest got ready and I was dropped off at my house for a quick shower and grooming, the four of us sans Heng who left early at 8am for school picked up Suet and went to SMK Seafield for their Canteen Day.

I was reluctant to go since like all canteen days, there are the same displays of horribly-cooked food, disgustingly-priced food/drinks that threatens to decapicitate your wallet and hothothothothot sun that bores into your skin. But well, since plenty of people had been urging me to go (mostly for sub-reasons such as transport and selling me their coupons), and the prospect of meeting up with old friends is there, I went along.

Chee Hee looked so different already.

Shawn and Chee Hee.

The Canteen Day atmosphere.

This kid is exhausted from all the heat and commotion.

Apart from walking around randomly in the mostly crowded stalls, we also sat down to suffer from the heatheatheat and chitchat with one another. Also saw Kay Li, my current Metro classmate, and plenty of other ex-classmates around.

If there’s one other reason why all these people I know were there, it’s because a good lot of them were ‘conned’ into going by a certain someone.

Suet and I camwhoring.

Daniel, Sarah, Suet.

We also ate kuaci won by playing some dart game and deliberately threw them everywhere on the ground, mostly done by Shawn.

I only spent RM5 buying half of the coupon book from WH since beh tahan edi having not eaten anything yet. Shawn leeched off the rest of the coupons from other people who couldn’t spend them all after being ‘conned’ by a certain someone, and even with that much amount of money we couldn’t spend them all as well, so apparently some of us played various games and bought various drinks.

We went back home at about 3pm in two separate cars, Andy’s and Shawn’s, after being bored out of our minds doing absolutely nothing of fucking interest or value which essentially wasted half of my afternoon away.
