9 Dec 2004 4:38 pmI’ve just started writing about 300 words or so, my ideas hovering about vaguely and I know that I couldn’t really think of any ideas. The only way I can make my essay flow is to start writing that first sentence, and the rest comes naturally.
Shaun told me about the Commonwealth Essay Writing Competition when I was at Jon’s house a few days back; since I pretty much have nothing to do, I decided that I will join. =)
The thing is, I’m also inspired by the winners - if a Singaporean could bag the top prize, why can’t a Malaysian? XD I can’t say that my English could match their kind of standard (mine’s riddled with grammatical atrocities), but writing’s my passion, and whether I win or not (I hope I do XD), if I can produce a work that’s satisfying to me and my readers, I’m happy enough.
I chose the topic: “A moment of realisation and growing up.”
I wish I can post my essay up here, but I’m a little afraid of plagiarism, so I’ll just send the finished copy (when I’m done with it) to those who wish to read it. :) (more than likely I’ll force that document to some people >_>)
