26 Feb 2007 7:45 amThis is going to be a random, jumbled up entry, freewriting at its best (or worst) – you may want to skip reading this if you’re easily offended or bored, since no one’s forcing you to read anyway.
One of my pet peeves is English (or foreign) covers done by Chinese artists – for instance, Trisha Yearwood’s How Do I Live (from her 1997 album, that was 10 years ago) was completely butchered up by FIR’s rendition, not that I have anything against the group since I do like a few of their songs. Mika Nakashima’s Yuki no Hana too was completely copied by some female artist and I’m mind-boggled why they find a need to do so – complete with their own set of lyrics but with the exact same tune wtf.
The only cover I actually liked was Gary Chaw’s Superwoman, but apart from that, the rest are covers after covers that don’t quite match up to the original.
Yesterday when I was in the car with Ding, we heard the ubiquitous Numa Numa Iei on the radio – except that it was in Chinese wtf. According to Ding, the lyrics was talking about “a cockroach appearing and not being scared with it anymore” wtfwtf damn lame.
Ding and I had dinner together at Leo’s (Taipan) yesterday – and boy did my food suck. Their stewed chicken dish was soo plain and tasteless, the potatoes and steamed carrot worse still. Ding ordered this RM4.80 fancy drink in an equally fancy glass named “Just Once Only” or something to that effect – and indeed, it’s a drink you’ll only want to try once, because it was that bad.
The environment however, was quite cosy and it’d be a good place to hang out if not because of their really bad food and drinks. Free wireless Internet access (woot), their toilets really clean, with even the funky diagonal basin which Old Town Kopitiam lacks severely.
I went to my college today with Andy (Ding fetched woot) at 10am plus to collect our schedules. Both of us met our previous Microeconomics tutor – Ms Loo – at the UFP office, and she had to make this morbidly depressing remark, “Remember ah, this Thursday lecture is a real lecture, so spread the word around!”
Ohgodpleaseno.
Somehow throughout the 1 month holiday, I lost my zeal for life – not the suicide shit and all that crap, but I just felt like not wanting to study anymore. I even told my mum that, and she said, “Okay sure. Don’t study. But it’s best to have a degree to fall upon if anything goes wrong.”
I meannn you’ve heard of all those clichéd success stories – Bill Gates dropping out of university, some businessmen who didn’t even complete their high school but are now Datuks (possibly a paid title) and millionaires.
I just dread the idea of doing presentation after presentation and assignment after assignment which eventually amounts to going out to get a job and possibly support our own lives.
So after that short visit to our respective colleges earlier today, we went to Taipan in search of a place to eat and eventually landed on Leo’s – again. I was willing to give that place another try, and their chicken hor fun was just meh. Somewhat worse than the Chinese stalls behind my house.
Recently on Saturday I had an open house – it’s very merry and all, but it’s probably gonna be the last one as there were tons of leftover of meehoon and fried rice and chicken wings, enough to last my family a few lunches and dinners the next couple of days. :/
Yes, if you’re wondering, I was a little depressed like a PMS-ing bugger for the last few days – only to be cheered up by the likes of DotA and hanging out with some friends.
The following conversation I remembered clearly from almost exactly a month ago – so incredibly reminiscent – which may not mean much to most:
“Why are we like that?”
“I dunno. That’s life.”

yeah horrible horrible covers. I personally loathe the cover of How Do I Live at FIR to bits – seriously spoil one of the songs I liked wei! Why must copy copy as if they’re not creative enough to come out with their own tunes and songs.
Sometimes I wonder if they got pay royalties to the original singers or something.
yeah at least jay chou and leehom and dunno who else come up with their own songs.. write and compose by themselves even.
lol wtf buy pirated CDs tidak sama dengan support them. >_>
