The Murder of the Bees in the Night-time

Yesterday night, Jon who recently passed his driving test fetched both Heng and I from my house at about 7.15pm to Taipan in his dad’s Proton Saga. All without a license, and the P sticker, lol.

Jon ate his dinner at McD’s, then fetched Heng and I to Shawn’s house at 8pm. The first thing I noticed was two dead bees lying on the ground.

We thought nothing of it, until we entered the house and saw two more bees flying around the lights. Again, thought nothing of it, until we hear Shawn’s gasps and squeals, ran towards the window overlooking the porch, and what we saw was this.

An entire generation of huge bees - 20 to 30 of them - swarmed around the light of the porch as if it was a beehive. They buzzed around madly, and before we knew it, a few more of them flew in through the windows.

We stopped at our tracks, slammed the windows and the door shut before fleeing and screaming around like little girls as the bees continued buzzing around us. Both Heng and Shawn took the pesticide - Sheltox, Ridsect, whichever - while what was left was a portable light generator and a roll of TheSun newspapers. I took them all.

As the bees are attracted to sources of light, we devised a simple decoy plan. Some bees were upstairs near the computer, so we placed the light generator on top of a chair, turned off the lights, and let the bees fly around it. The moment they appear, both Shawn and Heng sprayed a generous amount of mosquito-killing gaseous chemicals then immediately ran downstairs.

When Heng thought it was safe to use the PC, we went downstairs again. Shawn’s dad had this foul-smelling incense-smoke thingy and said it’s good to drive away the bees. The moment we open the door, two or three more flew in, and flew upstairs.

We went upstairs with Heng complacently chatting away at the PC. I spotted one fat-assed bee landing right next to Heng, and told him so, and he flew towards our direction as if twenty of them were chasing him. lol. When one of the bees flew right towards our direction, both Shawn and I ran downstairs - our hands moving up and down - with both of us side-by-side, in a most hilarious manner like most comics would depict.

It was seriously a funny situation that had all of us sweating - whether it was cold sweat or not I don’t know. Suffice to say we managed to murder the damn bees. No pics as I didn’t bring my camera. :(

When Yen came back at about 9pm, she screamed in frustration when she heard that the mahjong set they had was taken away somewhere by their mum. Somehow or another, she managed to dig a spare one hidden away in the storeroom.

So we bukak meja. IT’S MAHJONG TIME!

Finally after further tutoring from Yen, I finally got the basics. Finally got to win without any assistance from anyone else ^_^.

Shawn picked up Andy, Daniel, and Eugene at about 10pm or so, with Daniel bringing another mahjong set with him. So we opened another table in the living room, with two tables playing mahjong. So damn sweet. :D

We played right up to about 3am. Un-fucking-believable. Also self-made (“zi mo”) several times too, which is a big achievement for a complete newbie like yours truly. :D

For some reason, Shawn found it amusing to drive at 20kph just to annoy Daniel off, lol. We reached Tanjung, ate and drank for a bit, then at about 4am left towards the direction of Daniel’s house.

We reached at 4.30am because Shawn did the following:

- drove at 10kph to 20kph
- stopped for 5 whole minutes at a traffic light
- even when the lights turned green, the car remained stationary

swt betul, haha.

We reached Shawn’s house at nearly 5am. We continued playing Mahjong till 5.30am, being the hardcore Mahjong players we’ve turned into. >_>

After we stopped for a while, I thought Shawn and Heng were gonna sleep soon, so went upstairs to Shawn’s bed and slept. Apparently they thought I went to the loo, and waited for me as they wanted to continue for few more rounds. LOL. They slept at about 6am plus, crazy fellas. >_>

I was woken up a few times by the goddamn howling dog behind Shawn’s house - apparently the owners were away and the dog was locked out/locked in. Idiots. Managed to sleep through the incessant howling though, which continued like a persistent bee for hours.

I was lazy to get up initially at about 11am, but finally did so after hearing the beautiful sounds of the mahjong tiles clacking together when they began “washing” the tiles. Ahhhhhh.

Shawn fetched me home at 12pm, bathed etc, then went together with Wai Hong to this Sumo restaurant at USJ 9 to meet up with Pn Tan Lan Lan and her son. We caught up on each other’s lives, while sipping our cold green tea and eating the various food we ordered (I had an unagi thingy in a bowl with rice, Pn Tan ordered various sushi).

She treated us the hearty lunch, which amounted to RM112 wtf. @_@ Even gave us angpows, bless her, even on the last day of Chinese New Year.

Picked up Andy, then went to this florist Pn Tan recommended at Court 7 as both Andy and Shawn had an errand to run for Ryui Bynn who’s currently still in NS. Went back to Shawn’s house, and the three of us (minus Shawn who slept) played mahjong right up to 5pm.

Somehow, mahjong is so completely addictive. Ahhh. There’s something about rubbing the marble-like tiles together, putting your hands on them, that makes it so much fun.
