I’ve never actually gave my wisdom teeth more than 2 seconds worth of thought because despite the fact that my lower wisdom teeth on both sides were positioned diagonally, I brushed it aside thinking it’s just one of the few quirks in life – like how crooked fingers are quite common (I can never make some of my own fingers to be straight upright, and this fact I’m well aware of each time we had to raise our right hand to do the ikrar thing in morning assemblies back when I was in school).

So my lower wisdom teeth remained planted in my gums diagonally for many years.. until 3 days back when it began to hurt. I brushed it aside because I tend to be over-optimistic (or be in a state of denial, if you’d like to put it that way), and when the dull pain persisted over through the following day, I had to drag myself to the dentist in front of my house for a consultation.

And this is what she declared in a slightly high-pitched voice, “Oh my god boy, you have to take them out!!”

If that wasn’t worse enough, since wisdom teeth are tricky creatures by nature (why slapping them with the name ‘wisdom’ is beyond me when the troubles they bring forth like omen are hardly intellectual), I have to go for a dental surgery. T____T And as if I haven’t heard enough of bad news in one day, she began to tell me that I’ll have to extract each tooth separately.

Sighhhh that’s putting up with surgical horrors TWO TIMES. Why would anyone in their right mind do that!

And yes I know I’m going to sound like an utter wimp but this operation would be done when I’m awake. T______________T Meaning no general anaesthesia (the thing that causes patients to fall into a deep sleep) would be administered and I would be entirely aware of what would happen, like pliers and razors and all manner of cringe-inducing tools would enter my mouth as I can only leave my mouth gaping open for 30-45 minutes while the dentist extracts it.

Yes they would inject anaesthesia (NOT to be confused with general anaesthesia) into the region where an extraction would be performed, but it’s not a regular extraction at all where the dentist numbs the area then pull it out forcefully. The dentist would have to cut the gum up and as it bleeds continuously, depending on the difficulty of the extraction, my tooth may have to be cut into smaller pierces before being taken out.

And yes I know I’m scaring myself silly by googling medical websites and asking friends how their experiences were. My fellow forumers in the US had GA administered to them (in the hospital, IIRC) and they pull out all two or four of their wisdom teeth at once.

Right now my wisdom tooth doesn’t ache that much, and I have to bear with this for another 2 more weeks till my appointed date with my orthodontist who would further advise me what I should bloody do with all the wisdom stored in my stupid tooth.

On Wednesday night, Ding and I went to Jon’s house for our usual gaming sessions – Ding had an especially stronger reason to go as his hard drive went bonkers and he sought Jon’s help for a miracle resurrection (it never happened).

We would have went back at around 2.30am after DotA-ing, and playing FFCC: RoF (without Jon), but no, my curiosity was piqued when Jon played this online game CabalSEA. After Ding and I thought “Hey, it would be fun to play this together”, we registered our accounts and played it right up to 5am WTF.

The next day at around 10am-ish after my mum woke me up for breakfast (felt extremely groggy, really), Shawn messaged me on MSN to go have lunch with him, Andy, and Ding.

About 40 minutes later we were on our way to Klang in Andy’s car to eat bak kut teh.

Our bak kut teh. Till now I can’t really say I appreciate the texture of pork too much – the soft, gooey feel of it – plus it has too much fats (which I hate, ironically, when I’m quite thin).

Praying before meals wtf.

We went back at around 12pm plus.

At night after my Chinese class (my teacher cancelled classes for two weeks as she had a very bad flu, but she seemed alright already), Ding and I went to Jon’s house again and stayed there till about 2.30am before heading to Tanjung mamak to fill up our growling stomachs.

Now despite being groggy-headed while I was driving (not a safe trait of a driver, I know, but that was why I always go slow whenever my head feels that it’s not thinking straight), and I’m pretty sure I wasn’t dreaming this up, but while we were on the way to Tanjung, I happened to glance to my right where Taipan is and where Secret Recipe and Maybank could be found on that row, and guess what we saw?

There were a bunch of teenage guys there looking like they were dancing, and one of them was stark naked save for that flimsy piece of cloth called a pair of briefs.

It was.. completely bizarre, at 2.30am, to be parading your naked flesh around, and I zoomed past without finding out why. Either a drunkard like Siew, except that instead of playing pranks on me he happened to be comfortable without clothes, a truth-or-dare game, or just something weird that hormonally-charged teenagers seem to be apt at doing.
