The trip to InvenQjaya and The Star

I managed to finish my Econs paper in 35 minutes (8am-8.35am) when we were supposed to gather at the school canteen. Other than some calculations of some taxes which I didn’t bother to think over much with, the entire paper is okay.

As I don’t have a watch with me, I’ll relate the events without the time =P Left school and headed straight for this particular company called InvenQjaya, situated at Putrajaya. It’s a place to train scientists and invent stuffs; they have loads of patents to prove. The building itself (its interior) is almost futuristic. The lights are bluish, they have plasma screens covering every corner of the building… We were treated to a video of the company profile, and then a 3D animation (we got to wear the 3D specs that they had invented as well, something about them being made of poly-(something) film.

This guy Julian, who was one of the managers there and became our tour guide for my group A, has the most flawless English ever. Hardly noticed any grammatical mistakes when he spoke; his pronunciation is of the high-class English, pronouncing ‘power’ as ‘parr’. Amazing. His vocab is wide (when I asked him a question regarding artificial light used in solar panels, he answered me, and used um, ‘periodically’, which I think none of us would ever consider using in their everyday speech. I think some might not know of the word at all >_>), and he retains a certain British accent. He articulates clearly.

Well, there goes a paragraph of praises. It’s really interesting as a whole, as we learnt all sorts of new things related to chemistry, mostly. Potassium = Kalium (Malay word >_>), Sodium = Natrium (Malay).

After our one hour lunch at McDonald’s at somewhere in Shah Alam, we went to The Star Hub at Bukit Kemuning, Shah Alam. It’s a printing factory, and boy, the processes are most interesting; and we learnt how they actually get the information from the HQ/offices, how we living in Klang Valley always get the latest info if the info was sent in in time, while those residing in Johore and elsewhere would not get them.

Vinod, one of the workers at the PTC department was funny. He’s amusing; he tried to answer each of our questions (shot mostly by the girls, especially Suet Li and Angela) and he answered sarcastically “obviously” to some of their questions XD He said that he regretted taking our group :P Said that ours was the most inquisitive, ask-a-lot group he had ever handled.

When we finished our tour around the factory, we had some refreshments. We were given a Galaxie issue, the one with The Corrs on the cover :D I was shocked to see so many such issues, but am happy =P Spread the love of The Corrs around! I heard a gasp behind me, and realized it’s Chia Wern’s. Turns out that she’s a Corrs fan too :D Unbelievable. I’ve always thought The Corrs are under-rated in Malaysia…Even kak (Jess) said she’s gonna buy Borrowed Heaven; she told me in the bus before we stepped down to the factory. :D And I was asked to burn a copy for some of them *sweats*

Reached school at 4.30pm. It was a most educational and fun-filled trip; loved the experience.
