31 May 2006 6:33 pmI have a strange bout of insomnia that kept me awake after 4am up to 6am despite wanting to sleep badly. Not sure why this occured, but the last time something like this happened was right before the beginning of 2006, and to have insomnia is probably one of the worst mental tortures one could ever endure.
Anyhow, went out with Andy and Heng at about 6.30pm earlier to Andy’s Sunway Lagoon Club, which, in my very limited experience of having been to any of these clubs (aku tak kaya doh), this club beats Lakeview Club (Shawn’s and Esther’s and RB’s) flat. Its exterior is impressive, and I’ve only been to the swimming pools - apparently the gym is huge, recently-renovated, and perfect for regular or lazy, undoting gym-goers like me.
The swimming pool is alright and pretty normal - not gold-plated nor supplied with oxygenated water with rose petals for posh, exclusive trillionaires. What I love is the fact we only need to pay RM5 (for guests) to use any of their facilities: swimming pool, badminton/tennis courts, gym, etc (Court 10’s shabby badminton courts charged at RM10 per hour sucks). And they even provide towels, something not many clubs do - and certainly not Lakeview.
And the toilets/changing/locker room is sososo much better than the ones available at Lakeview. For instance, the locker/changing room in the toilet is actually a separate, air-conditioned room (which froze my balls off right after showering), and the showers have hot water and liquid soap! (Not sure Lakeview got or not, but I don’t think so lo.)
Swimming was tiring but fairly relaxing, considering this is my first time actually exercising in uh, more than a year methinks. I was fairly active when I was in Form 3, going for cycling trips, swimming and playing badminton fairly often before all these healthy activities dwindled down into sitting in front of the PC and staring at books.
We finished swimming at 8 something, and left at around 8.30pm. I was very contented and satisfied.
We went straight for Tanjung mamak, something I originally planned for Angela but she couldn’t make it as the lucky girl is vacationing somewhere. A total of 9 people were there, after awaiting for the rest to arrive: the three of us swimmers, Suet, Barry, Esther, Kai Tzin, Ding and Jess.
Went back at around 11.30pm in Kai Tzin’s car.
There’s something I’d like to rant about this year’s 2006 World Cup.
And that is their choice of this year’s theme song. We had the very memorable Ricky Martin’s Cup of Life in 1998, and in 2002 we had Anastacia’s Boom, which while isn’t as infectious and melodious as Cup of Life, it’s fairly palatable.
It seems that the World Cup theme songs have diminished in quality as the years passed by. The song itself might be okay in other contexts, but it’s the choice of the theme song of the authorities concerned that’s the problem.
I present to you, Il Divo & Toni Braxton’s The Time of Our Lives (aha, finally updated my music player after 6 months. Scroll up and select the aforementioned song from the list and play it. If the song doesn’t appear, clear your cache and refresh the page again).
...
No, I haven’t seen the lyrics nor do I want to after listening to the rather uninspiring music for a worldwide, universally-loved football tournament.
Shakira’s booty-moving Hips Don’t Lie (2006 World Cup Mix) is a far better choice in my opinion, from the list of songs they have in their Voices soundtrack.
Once you’ve done listening the first 2 minutes of the song, I rest my case.

kaitzin: I love Hips Don’t Lie a lot, her World Cup mix is just alright.. since I like the original more. :P But yeah the mix is pretty dance-y alright.
Nah didn’t see the doc since I figured it’s a random one-time thing. If this continues I’ll just drop by my doctor lol.

i think that they should take off either il divo or toni braxton in that song. il divo overpowers toni’s voice at times.

yeah :/ I seriously don’t fancy their choice of Time of Our Lives as 2006 World Cup’s theme song.
