2 Jan 2008 12:09 pmFinally touched down this morning at 12.30am.
So many people asked me “How was your trip?” I was at a loss for words – how was one supposed to sum up almost an entire month’s worth of experience in a few words? I told them it was “great”, “nice”, and other very unimaginative adjectives, but behind those lifeless words, there are mountains of things done and seen, hills of emotions carried and submerged to the rivers of time that have flowed past.
When I finally reached home, small bits of things have changed.
My parents changed doors and locks to the house. My bed has been substituted to a newer one. My mum bought new cooking pots. My room is in a complete mess, because my old bed which contained many objects of memories are thrown out and stacked on whatever table and spot available.
I need to register for my new university soon to commence the transfer from Curtin to RMIT. I’ve not even unpacked my backpack yet.
All these touches of reality are bringing me to real firm ground faster than I thought, but I’ve already adjusted myself the moment I stepped into Langkawi. Didn’t think I would miss Malaysian food, but god I really do.
Only two weeks left to my ‘holiday’, of which I’ll be scraping off the remnants of my backpacking trip and seal it off for the real world.
