Universal prayers

Fuh, yesterday we had only one class! The last class of Human Communication, and we don’t have our usual English ‘cause the class was brought forward two days back for our English advertisement presentation.

Which meant that class ended at 11am. Woot.

With so much free time, my collegemates and I decided to go to Pyramid to catch an early movie, but the problem of going in three different cars is one of us are bound to be late. Since we’ve went past the designated 11.50am time for You, Me, and Dupree, the rest decided on singing karaoke.

Sweat betul.

Red Box.

The room was quite small, but then again the few times I’ve been, it was always a large room where we had to pay quite a bit.

I thought I’d be bored out of my minds listening to friends singing unfamiliar Chinese songs, a language I hardly mastered, but heck it wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be. At least I got to know several songs worth noticing, at least I got to sing the few Chinese songs I fancy.

Our singing session ended at 3pm, with us paying RM8 each. Walked around further and went back at about 4pm.

Went out again at about 9.20pm to pick up Andy and to Shawn’s house to mahjong. Quite a good game since I only lost about RM1 for once. :D Went back at 1am since Shawn had to work early in the morning the next day.

You wouldn’t be able to guess where Andy, Pui Yan, and I went to after exiting Sunway Pyramid. It was all on impulse after one of us (couldn’t remember who) suggested this particular place, since it was still quite early and all to go home.

Wah like seriously, we went to the SJBA temple!

You might have known that I don’t subscribe to any religions, but we actually prayed and stuff, even Pui Yan who’s a Christian herself. In fact, she was asking if it was alright for her to pray at a temple and I told her to go ahead, because going to a place of religiousness voluntarily meant your related actions won’t matter even if you are of a different faith. Because some things are quite universal.

The entire compound of the temple was quite deadly quiet, not a soul in sight. We placed the jaw-sticks (can’t remember how it’s spelt) firstly as was shown in the photo above when Andy was lighting them up, then into the slightly stuffy main hall to do our prayers.

It wasn’t a special prayer, but a simple, non-deviation one, where hopefully “everyone is happy and well always”. It’s a simple prayer for everyone I know to be safe and genuinely happy in their own private world.

This entire visit probably didn’t take more than 5 minutes, but in its short entirety, I thought it was peacefully enlightening and rather insightful. Kneeling down in front of the Buddha image, I found myself questioning inevitably at the back of my head, “Do you exist?” but it was quickly brushed off with more sincere prayers.

Because who doesn’t want to be affected positively from a prayer?

In a way, prayers are universal in their own unique ways.

SJBA rocks! The teen quest/youth group team i mean. Heh, used to be a committee for it, so I have to support it.

no harm ‘praying’ to other religions. since all of us don’t really know which one is true (because proof takde – gotta admit that), maybe praying for all will help :P

ozzie: haha didn’t know! yeah I think one of my collegemates is part of the teen quest thingy too, ‘cause he asked me once if I wanted to go to the temple’s year-end camp. >_> Unlikely!

yeah.. some totally religious fellas might feel insulted if those who don’t really believe in their faiths just pray anyway.. okay better not say anything much since it’s a ‘sensitive’ issue lol.

suet: YEAH it’s joss stick!! now only remember..

sweat perasan betul. OMG LAME PUN!!

haha go and pray la. no harm. might be beneficial even lol.

you seriously went SJBA? Serious case?!

Wow, i din’t know my temple was so famous wtf. XD

Yeah, i go there every Sunday, and at that time its usually full of bustle and activities. I can hardly think of my third home as quiet, more less deadly quiet, so yeah, you get the idea.XD

Hehe SJBA is quite famous methinks, location also quite strategic and all.

I suppose weekends the temple would be quite busy.. especially on days like Wesay Day lol. Suddenly all the people who never go to the temple will turn up.
