22 Mar 2006 5:48 pmJust a recap of what happened in the past few days, for my own info once I grow a beard or two and my skin sags.
Monday night:
Was out with Jon, who fetched Daniel, Kai Shen and I to Asia Cafe at first, then an hour of cybercafe nearby there.
Tuesday night:
Kai Tzin’s birthday, so Jon picked him up again after both of us taught some junior noobs on how to handle the school website’s updates (and getting paid a nice amount in return, which we didn’t expect at all). Wai Hong tagged along as well, and during the pouring rain we up Daniel from Fang Chyuan’s house.
Ate/drank at McD, went back home, then out again at night playing at the cybercafe behind my house, even Jess and Esther tackled CS as well. We went to mamak after that, in Andy’s car, after both Andy and I fetched the rest back.
Wednesday night:
Watched V for Vendetta at Summit with Daniel, Teck Seng and Asa (Xin Hui) - from 7.15pm to about 9.30pm. Dammit, exceeded my expectations and it’s brilliantly voracious, vicious and vindictive in its execution of the script written by the Wachowski brothers, creators of the trilogy The Matrix. It is a movie you will not want to leave your seat even for a short moment, since every dialogue is essential to the entire integrity and wholeness of the show. I had to keep my bladder expanding and try and tahan throughout the show since.. yeah, it’s that worth it.
Set in the totalitarian Britain in the future, a mysterious masked man simply known as V (Hugo Weaving, aka Agent Smith), and a girl called Evey (Natalie Portman) try to pursue a revolution against the High Chancellor’s government. Imagine my utter surprise when the ‘f’ words were flown through, and the sub-elements of homosexuality weren’t censored at all. Yay for freedom of the media and art, unlike what was portrayed in the movie.
This is a must-watch movie, and I’ll scrap what I said in my previous entry on one of the memes and declare that V for Vendetta is a movie you’ll re-watch again, especially on a pirated DVD with perfect English subtitles (in the future).
Action scenes weren’t as many as I expected, but whatever they had was just nice enough. The story, supposedly a comic book adaptation was simply brilliant and original. The cast, the acting.. the scenes, and especially the dialogue.
Here, with minor spoilers, is V’s introductory dialogue to Evey:
This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished, as the once vital voice of the verisimilitude now venerates what they once vilified. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.
The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-?-vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V.
Damn impressive. It’s the verbose version of the following text in layman’s terms (taken from a forum):
This face, no mere show of vanity, is an example of an opinion that’s no longer there, now empty, gone, as the once important voice of the truth now respects what they once verbally attacked. However, this brave appearance of a past annoyance, stands alive, and has promised to kill those corrupt and hateful rats acting as soldiers of evil and priveliging the violently cruel and gluttenous crime of free will.
The only conclusion is vengeance; a feud, held as a fulfillment, not in vain, for the importance and truth of such shall one day avenge the watchful and moral. In fact, this thick creamy potato soup flavored with leeks and onions of wordiness is most wordy compared to an introduction, and so it is my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V.
Huhuhu, the vocabulary is simply voracious. o.o I love British-based films, the satire and all in this particular one is simply amusing. This movie gets a rating of 10/10 from me!
Went out later to cybercafe behind my house playing O2Jam for a bit in the beginning, then CS (Asa didn’t join us). Then went mamaking at Tanjung in two cars, with Andy’s car containing Shawn, Esther and Jess.
