19 Nov 2006 3:55 pmI was at a restaurant at Dengkil earlier with relatives in at least 3 different cars. Sitting quietly eating the typical Chinese food, I saw my two younger cousins, who are brothers, joking and laughing with one another, and something flashed in my head.
It was my earlier memory when I was probably 4-5 years old. It was when I was sitting on a rocking plastic horse (or some kinda animal) at night at my old house, right beneath the stairs of the rather small living room which was unlit at that time. I remembered my dad, a decade younger, coaxing me to go back to bed.
And fast forward to my 4th or 5th birthday, eating at the same brown, round dining table I still have today, if I’m not mistaken, my favourite black forest cake from the Angel’s store nearby.
Memories of myself kept flooding in as I continued watching my cousins’ antics. Memories of which, unrecorded, will be slowly erased, filed underneath an older brain plagued by age. Those days when my family was poorer, but I suppose, happier. Maybe.
What’s your earliest memory anyway? Memories invoked by looking at your younger pics don’t count anyway, since you may force those memories on yourself or even fake them thinking it’s real. Or something.
