Where I let USD$1200 fly.

Look at the amount of books now beautifully poised on my table, as I revel in the delight of having to read all these totally wholesome, educational and enlightening mostly Economic books I will be reading.

..I certainly don’t look forward to browsing through books as thick as your skull. My parents borrowed those books from my cousin in case I need them in college. @__@

..

I don’t know what else to blog since I didn’t go out after all the driving restrictions I have (mostly because of petrol reasons). Would you like to know how I’m still coughing like the old grandpa living in the basement of Puduraya Bus Terminal even though dear Tioman is roughly three days away, or would you like to listen to me rambling on about Kingdom Hearts II’s secret ending?

I find myself trying to failingly pick up my own ancestors’ native language, which really isn’t all that hard.. save that I’m too bloody lazy to follow-up, do constant exercises etc without some tutor helping me. :(

But see, how am I to learn Mandarin when I keep falling back on a dialect I’m more comfortable with, that is Cantonese? I do know that Cantonese has about 10 different sounds or something (compared to Mandarin’s 4), making it one of the supposedly toughest dialects to learn. I digress, haha.

Sometimes with making decisions, what if your ad company predicted that if you put stupid annoying pop-unders in your site (the type that sometimes Firefox couldn’t block and force themselves through), and you’ll make USD$1,200 in two weeks, would you agree?

That’s a lot of money - more than my parents are making, in fact - but I denied the offer because I’m sure loyal visitors who love our site will flock away. I’m not ready to sell the soul of the site yet for the Satan of all ads. What is our site without the thousands of visitors who load 1,000,000 of our pages daily on average? The one thing foremost in my mind has been our loyal visitors and fans - there was once when pop-unders accidentally appeared (long story) and how an angry visitor “who loved the site” wrote to us accusing us of selling ourselves out (in that sense) and said he’ll visit other sites instead.

Or maybe.. maybe I’m too na?ve, too un-greedy unlike the many businessmen out there. I recall Heng telling me once that he will never venture into business solely because how greedy and under-handed the people there could get, but whether he changed his opinions by now I don’t know.

Money can be the root of all evil, and I don’t think I’m tempted by it yet.

What would you have done?

Edit: From my logs, some fella stumbled onto this blog via the Google search of “gigolo langkawi”. O__O LOL. From the country of SA - I presume South Africa.
