Wii would like to play!

Egads my entire weekend is completely wasted on going out on Wii-ing. Yep, finally got my Wii!

So let’s begin the story on Friday after my college ended in the morning (we decided to skip the boring 3-hour Moral class), where Jon with his girlfriend, fetched me, Andy, and Kai Tzin to The Curve.

Jon’s and my primary objective was to get two sets of Wii Remote + Wii Nunchuk before my Wii arrives at night. We went to watch Eragon first (except for Jon and gf who watched it the day before already), and it wasn’t exactly what I had anticipated. The movie was dreadfully uninteresting, and the idea of casting spells using the ancient language of the elves seems a bit, reused and, clich?d?

The scenes felt rushed since the viewers weren’t exactly given the chance to delve into the characters, and since the movie was based on a novel, I guess it’s quite understandable. But I don’t think I’d want to read it though, heh. Narnia seems so much better for a fantasy novel-based movie.

We saw 3 cute huskies at Ikano’s Starbucks. O_O (They were moving around too much to actually pose for my pic, so I also lazy lah.)

After walking around and finished purchasing my controllers from Gamer’s Hideout at Cineleisure, we went back through a long haul of traffic jam and reached home about 7pm plus.

Anyway got my Wii after waiting anxiously in my house at about 9pm plus from Suet, then immediately dabbled with plugs and a stepdown transformer to set up the Wii.

Jon came shortly after I turned it on and woot was it bloody fun. Imagine swinging around a remote control-like controller acting as a tennis racquet, punching with the Nunchuk in Boxing, bowling with it.. wah damn syok. Shawn, Jess, Heng, and Andy dropped by later for even more Wii love till 1am, which by then, all of us were quite sweaty and tired.

Okay sorry lah lazy to elaborate nicely cause I’m quite tired now. Been out non-stop since Friday.

So on Saturday morning.. I went for my first Mandarin class at the MCA Centre in USJ 1 heh. The fact that I had to wake up early in the morning wasn’t exactly pleasing, but then I kept encouraging myself with thoughts like “It’s for your own good!” and “It’ll be worth it in the end, after sacrificing all your Saturday mornings” and shit like that. Because I half-regretted signing up for it – RM240 for 2 months, once a week for a 2 hours session.

It wasn’t that bad lah I guess, but the teacher, Ms Lee, was a bit gigglish and her English wasn’t that good (no surprise here). I’ll reserve my comments about her after hearing my other 2 classmates commenting to each other during a short break how she couldn’t really teach. But hey this is an adult class.

OH so let’s talk about my classmates hehehe. Only 4 of us! Woot super attention lah to each of us (so yeah maybe it’s worth it?). One of them, Rizal (or something like that), turns out to be a Metropolitan student too, a senior doing a Curtin programme. So who are the other 2?

Don’t you just want to know. Two very hot girls! Woot woot.

That is, if you consider a housewife in her late 40s and a large woman called Sharon Gomez in her mid 30s (reminds me of um, Rose of Lost) to be ‘hot girls’.

Um, yeah, quite intimidating to be together with the lot of them in an adult’s class of a beginner’s course for Mandarin heh.

Anyway on Saturday I didn’t do much except sleep and going online and finishing Final Fantasy XII since I’ve gotten my Wii. :D At night 9pm onwards, Wai Hong came, followed by Jon and his girlfriend, then Kai Tzin, Esther, Ding, and Suet & Barry.

Pictures and videos should suffice in explaining all about the wonders of Wii.

Wii Sports’ Boxing game!

A look on Barry duking out against Fang Chyuan on Boxing.

Hilarious video of how Wai Hong, Daniel, and Fang Chyuan race against each other in a hurdle mini-game in Super Monkey Ball.

The several mini-games we played. :D

Damn syok. One by one the rest left, and finally the remaining 5 (Daniel, Esther, Fang Chyuan, Kai Tzin, Wai Hong) went back at 2am.

Oh did I forget to mention that halfway through Wii Sports’ Tennis, one of the Wii Remotes I bought stopped registering motions? =.= It could still sense presses of A and B buttons (and other miscellaneous ones), as well as movement of the pointer, but when you swing the Wii Remote around, nothing is happening. Quite a letdown.

Since Andy phoned me and asked at the most opportune time at about 1am-ish whether I’d like to go to The Curve, it seems appropriate to go back to the shop I bought the Wii Remote from (a fellow gamer’s shop at a local forum I frequent at).

Left home at 11.15am to pick up Andy, then I drove to Cineleisure. After changing the controller at said game shop (I lost my receipt, so it was a wonder I managed to get it changed, as the controller box had a post-it note of ‘Reserved for Saigo’ at the back, which confirmed my purchase there), we walked around for a bit to shop for Andy’s stuffs, and went to the Cathay cineplex and bought tickets to After This Our Exile, starring Aaron Kwok and Gouw Ian Iskandar who both won heaps of awards and praises for their portrayal in this movie.

Dududu it felt very.. what’s that word. Surreal? Pointless? Andy’s reluctant words of “usually this kind of movie that win lots of awards very boring wan wor” turns out to be right, heh. Sepet & Gubra wasn’t boring in the end, because both have strong and poignant storylines in which I think Exile lacks.

But it was actually quite refreshing, because this Chinese movie was shot in Perak, Malaysia! Woot can see the old, yellow bas sekolah, mamak stalls, and other completely Malaysian stuffs unlike those usual places and hustle and bustle we see in Hong Kong. It’s a peaceful stroll in a movie revolving around the personal lives of a completely broken family.

Set in the rural areas of Perak, this movie revolves around a father who has to live with his son (frequently called as Ah Boy in the movie) after his girlfriend ran away, unable to tolerate his boyfriend’s gambling habits and abusive behaviour. Thereafter, Father has to fend for himself and his son after being chased by loan sharks and got fired from his cooking job.

Without giving anything away, the ending did not end on a good note or a bad one, which further confuses the viewers as to what the director intends to convey. Or maybe I’m too stupid to understand too artistic of a movie.

Both Andy and I walked around, shopped, window-shopped, and finally ate a very late lunch after 5pm at 1901’s. Left Cineleisure finally at about 6.20pm-ish (oh, also saw Smashpop in front of a newly-opened restaurant at The Curve while we were on the way to our parking. We greeted one another, was surprised he still recognised me after we saw one another at the Photoshop seminar few months back.. and he was at the restaurant working to snap photos for his cousin), and reached Court 7 exactly five minutes before 7pm.

We left again after meeting Sarah who was in her car in front of Court 7 to F4 restaurant at USJ 1. It was bloody packed.

Didn’t exactly eat much since I was quite full from 1901’s, but ate a bit nonetheless. Famous food was curry fish head which I didn’t try since fish isn’t particularly my favourite dish after eating fish after fish almost daily. Drank my Carlsberg’s Christmas beer with honey (finally found the bottles hiding at Ikano’s Cold Storage!) there as well, I don’t quite know how to describe the taste.. except that it wasn’t as bitter as other beers I’ve tasted.

Went back at 9pm plus.

Babai must go to sleep soon I don’t have holidays very kasihan and got college in the morning.

Hi… I read from JonLoh’s blog that you were bringing in Cyclowiz mods… Do you still have them available or know of somewhere in PJ/KL that I can get them? Thanks!

I’m no longer bringing in Cyclowiz mods due to lack of demand.. but frankly speaking both Cyclowiz and Wiikey are almost similar. You can use the Wiikey if you want, a shop at The Summit that I know of mods it for you (Wiikey) for a fee – if memory serves right, it’s Ground floor, next to the corner-lot crystal shop.
