With a sip of a sourish Cabernet Sauvignon

Shockingly I’ve been blogging lesser and lesser these days — I’ve only gone for about 3 or 4 days at most without blogging in the past, but with the amazing amount of work on hand being splashed on me like cold water, I can’t imagine allowing myself an hour or two of entertainment on the side. This realisation, of course, only happened on Friday evening.

I have loads of pictures to document my week, but the post-processing would take a little while so we’ll have to make do without them for now till I complete my quota of work by the end of this coming week. I’ve been going out far too much in the past weeks — and thus making my stay in Melbourne much more interesting and less depressing — so I’d have to force myself to reduce my undertaking of such social entertainment.

I don’t know if it’s because of me being in my third and final year now, or the fact that the Australian education system is vastly dissimilar to the Malaysian one — or both — but I’ve never been this busy ever in my entire tertiary life. Shitloads of journals are waiting to be read and researched, and by the end of this semester I’m supposed to come up with 4 theoretical papers for my Empirical Studies in Equity Markets subject.

It was something I had initially disliked, but I grew more and more to like what I’m learning — the quality of the knowledge that I’m receiving is definitely something that I wouldn’t have received back in my college in Malaysia. In fact, so impressed and inspired was I by what I learned from our 3-hour replacement lecture today (Saturday), I had even considered consulting my lecturer to do a research of my own: to determine if contrarian profits can be seen in the context of the Malaysian equity markets (something I don’t want to ask just yet because of the aforementioned shitloads of assignments to work on).

So I’m sipping Half Mile Creek’s Cabernet Sauvignon (albeit a little sour ‘cause it has already been opened for one week) right now after finishing my part for our Investment assignment, with even more things to go.

And today, I discovered a renewed interest in writing after attending The Age Book of the Year Reading from the Melbourne Writers Festival. I’m currently keeping a journal/notebook of sorts on my own to keep track of ideas that would pop up from time-to-time, something that came up partly from the “Maximising Your Creativity” workshop that I have attended earlier this week which was organised by my university.

I was certainly kicked back to reality when my (rather handsome) Romanian tutor for Empirical Studies told me that we were already halfway through the entire course, and I’m not even halfway through my first paper.
