In the mind of Mr. Self, there’s a grim playground of original fantasies waiting to be explored. His range of vocabulary in the depths of his characters, and his imagination, is terrifyingly surreal. There’s also something about the blatant apathetic way that his characters go about life that’s quite mesmerising – his style of writing mayn’t be for all (nor is it for kids), but I quite enjoyed my foray to the dark realms of his stories.
